What to do with a TON of ribbon?

My grandmother is cleaning out her basement (after 50+ years of living in her house!) and gave me 2 boxes full of ribbon. Some lace, some basic, a lot of cool vintage stuff from the 70s. What do I do with it?

ooooooh...I love ribbon!
You could put trim on lampshades or little play tables for the kiddies.
Or, be like me and just put it in a box and play with it constantly trying to figure out what to do!:LOL
I'm sure someone else will have some better ideas...

i make apron tops and little summer jumper tops and use ribbon for the straps.

ooh, ribbon, the possibilities are endless...

Oh fun...
-you can trim little purses or canvas bags with it.
-Put it around the bottom of little (or big) girls jeans/shorts
-make fairy wands with it-tie it around a wooden spoon or stick and leave lots to wave around
-use it for homemade cards or picture frames
-If you have any eyelet tops you can weave it in and out of the eyelet
-trim pillows with it
-trim journals/photo albums with it
-it's always fun to let the little girls just be creative with it with their dolls
-hair stuff
Have fun, I love ribbon and trim!

weave them and it makes a fantastic pillow or accent on a jacket or such

I have always wanted to make a ribbon curtain, it takes lots of yardage. You just staple lengths of ribbon to a dowel and hang in on your window. It would be so pretty fluttering in a breeze!

Have you ever seen the dresses where there are layers and layers of ribbon covering the skirt. All colors and kinds would be perfect. Maybe 3 layers all cut to the length of the skirt. They are perfect for twirling in.

How about a Taggie baby security blanket?

It's bordered with ribbons in assorted colors & textures.

Decorate cards, such as ribbon trees:

Something as simple as ribbon headbands:

With really thick ribbon you can make a book mark out of it by adding a tassle.

Decorate/trim a lampshade.

Weave ribbons together & cover a footstool (ottoman sp?)

How about one of those boards, like a bulletin board, but instead of thumbtacking something to the board, you slide it behind a ribbon.

The possiblities are endless...if you don't know what to do with some of your ribbon you could always mail me some

Have fun!

I second the Taggie idea. I have a friend who made one as a baby shower gift and it was very well received and got a lot of wows...... and so easy, 2 layers of fleece and lots of ribbon"tags" sticking out.....

I like the Taggie idea - thanks! I just have to make sure that I have enough different textures. Interestingly enough, the woman that started those lives one town over from me and the factory is about 20 minutes from me - weird, huh?

Kerrie,
Who is the woman that invented the Taggie? I know she is a mother of three. Do you have ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) in MA? I was just wondering because I thought I heard that she was an ECFE mom from MN.

The other Taggie things they make are...
