Lots of kiddos get their CI's before 12 months. You just have to get insurance to approve it! There are lots of studies showing earlier is better. Kiddos who get them before 18 months, studies show, do the very best and are ready for the mainstream by Kindergarten, if not by age 3. (These are typical kids only, whose only issue is deafness.)
