Songs about babies

DD and I took our first solo car trip together yesterday, she is 8 days old. I was a nervous wreck not being able to see her in the back seat and kept the radio off so I could hear every squirm and snort. When she started to fuss I started to sing to her but I quickly ran out of songs. How embarrassing to ask, but what are your favorite songs to sing with your newborn?

"ooooooh child, things are gonna get easier....ooooooh child things'll get brighter...."
also for some reason reggae.

Anything you can remember the words to is a good song to sing to babies! When DD was new, I always went through Twinkle Twinkle, then You Are My Sunshine, then my college's alma mater song, then the theme song from The Facts of Life, and if I needed even more time, American Pie.

The Facts of life is still her favorite, and I let down every time I start singing Twinkle Twinkle!

Whenever DD2 gets upset in the car, her almost-5 sister sings "hush, little baby don't say a word, mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird..." About halfway through the song, the little one almost always calms down. It's ridiculously sweet beyond words.

Yes, yes, good suggestions. I know anything will work but my over-tired brain couldn't come up with anything! More please . . .

I listened to a lot of classic rock (The Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash, The Beatles, and so on), as well as Jason Mraz while pregnant, so they're my go-to's!

I do the Facts of Life theme song too!!!

I also sing the Beetles song..."try to see it my way....we can work it out, we can work it out. Life is very short, and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend..." She used to fall asleep in my arms every night to that song.

I agree, anything you remember the words to. Or, if you're my husband, just any melody you can remember and make up funny words as you go. The ants go marching is a good long one with a repetitive melody.

And our all time favorite around here is the song from Guys and Dolls, "I love you, a bushel and a peck..."
