What type of wool for making soakers?

I'm new to the soaker world and my Mom wants to try to knit a few, but we have no idea where to start!

Please help!

Just about any 100% wool yarn will work. Wool/mohair blends work as well, and so does acrylic

I was just going to ask this myself!

What percentage of the yarn needs to be wool to make a good soaker?

I have some yarn here that is 80% acrylic and 20% wool but I figured the wool percentage would have to be higher to make a good soaker.

I'm pretty new to knitting but thought I would give a soaker a try.

Thanks!

Jessica at fabric connection has great wool (I just got mine ) at a great (unbeatable) price. She is great to deal with

An 80/20 would probably work b/c acrylic can work just as well as wool. You'd probably need to use a water proofing spray or wash on it though. I believe Polar Proof works great to make acrylic soakers work
