It seems possible. In college I spent a semester in China, and we took a trip through a region where it seemed like most of the young boys were smoking. Really startling to see at first, I didn't see 2-year olds, but these were prepubescent boys smoking cigarettes. Sadly, I'm not sure it was the worst source of airborne contaminants they were exposed to though, because it was a coal-mining region and the overall air quality seemed very bad, and for the men actually working in the mines, it had to be even worse.

From what I've seen and read, yes, unfortunately this is a real story of a real 2 year old smoking a real cigarette.

They aired this on the news here in my town... made me mad and broke my heart. They said that the parents would stop giving him cigarettes but he throws a temper tantrum. So frustrating.

I have no doubt that this is true as horrifying as it is to see. My grandfather allows my 4 year old cousin to smoke cigars. I have never seen this since I do not associate with that side of the family (I'm sure you're baffled about that one, huh?) but I know it happens. Just disgusting.:Puke

It's Indonesia........unfortunately it's not uncommon to have child smokers there. The cig companies sponsor scholarships, sporting events, etc.

Its apparently real and there are multiple news stories about it now. The ignorance in these countries is disturbing they must be 50 or 60 years behind the rest of the world, and the targeting of these poor folk by the tobacco companies is sick.

although I have to wonder, although they may be ignorant of the dangers of tobacco, some of them apparently aren't too "poor" - its costing this family over $200 a month for this toddlers cigarettes!!!

As large as he is, I do wonder if there isn't more wrong with him.

I have a vague memory of another large child having something wrong with them. That they were compulsive in nature.
