can you use a cake recipe to make cupcakes?

I have a very favorite carrot cake recipe and a big stack of fresh garden carrots and my daughter is turning five tomorrow...

I don't do many desserts and didn't know if the recipe was interchangeable.

yep you just need to adjust the cooking time.

Yup, I do it all the time, even with brownies. You just don't bake them as long. I use the same temp as the recipe calls for.

gosh, thank you so much!

I didn't think there would be a big difference but I'd never tried it. Great

As a rule of thumb, the cupcakes will bake in about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on the density of the batter, your cupcake pans, hotspots in your oven etc.

If your cake recipe fills two 1-dozen cupcake pans, then place your racks on the upper and lower thirds of the oven and put one pan on each rack. Then switch the pans half-way through the baking time.

You may want to increase the amount of icing you make for cupcakes. It's nice to pile it up and around on the cupcakes, so it tends to use a little more than on a cake.
