DH needs his paper towels!

My dh is completely freaking out because I haven't bought any paper towels in a while. He used them for everything and it was overkill! There is nothing you can't take care of with a sponge, dish rags, dish towels, or napkins! UGH. Everyday he makes a comment on it and says he won't clean (he even used them to clean the kitchen) without them! He is driving me batty! I told him if I hear the words paper towel again then I will buy a roll..... and shove it you know where! I think he'll come around eventually though. He obviously isn't bothered enough to go to the store and buy some himself! I don't have any cloth napkins yet so we're using some paper ones that we have left over from a birthday party.
On a happier note, I found out that my rinky dinky small town acutally has a recycling center! And nobody knows about it! It's really too bad.I am so excited to get started with recycling. I just have to get some bins. Any good cheap ideas for things to use as recycle bins?
Now if I could just get a house with a yard so I can start doing some organic gardening. sigh.

Well, as a compromise maybe you could buy a roll or two of Seventh Generation Unbleached Papertowels? Personally, I just use cut-up t-shirts (old ones of course) for cleaning.

As for recycling, I really should try to be better about it! Thanks for the reminder.

My dh always grabs paper towels too, for wiping up, or drying off his hands. He'll reach past the dishtowel (which I replace daily) for a paper towel :
So when the roll is gone I just don't replace it .. then he finally gets fed up and does it LOL
The thing is, I never use them, so the few times he does, I just try to overlook it.

Let him have his paper towels, but tell him that he has to buy them himself, and not doing so won't get him out of cleaning. :LOL

my dh freaked out for a few months when I stopped buying them, but he got over it I just put cloth diapers where the paper towels used to be, and told him to use those to clean, they work much better!

He also freaked out when I stopped buying trash bags, and got reusable trash can bags. He's over it, now! LOL

Reusable trash bags?? Where do you get those? How do you throw your trash away if they're reusable?
I hate buying trash bags but if our trash isn't secured, the waste collector will just toss the can so that it goes all over the street!

the paper towel. dh finds them to be a kitchen necessity. so I compromise. I usually do the shopping so I pick up a roll of recycled now and then. no more stock pile in the pantry. then I put it on top of the fridge. conveniently there is always a clean kitchen towel or dish rag handy and I find that the paper towels are lasting longer and longer. I have some cloth napkins that I put out for meals.....though I find that often I put out one and dh and ds and I all share it! Cutting down on laundry and disposables whenever possible!

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I'm guessing that perhaps there is some manly significance to paper towels that I'm just completely missing.

Every man I know is just absolutely paralyzed by the thought of using cloth to clean anything. Maybe as little boys they were all persistently told to "get a kleenex" or something?
