Why do I feel like passing out?

I hydrate during my workouts - pre, during and post. I eat a granola bar about an hour before hand so that I have something in my stomach and then I follow up with a protein filled meal. I feel fine during my workout - not exhausted and not winded at all - sweating and I feel my heart pounding away - which is good.

Anyone else feel like crap or passing out afterwards??? Am I doing something wrong? Should I look at adding a protein shake or something to that effect either pre or post workout?

TIA!

Have you ever had low blood pressure? If it's not dehydration or not eating, that's the only thing I can think of.

Maybe try replacing your water with an electrolyte drink? How long are you working out? How intensely? What are you doing? It sounds like you are bonking. Maybe you need to fuel a little differently before you workout?

A couple of things... are you cooling down at the end of your workout or are you just stopping cold? If you're not cooling down, that can make your B/P drop which causes the faintness.

I just started back at the gym with a personal trainer last month and started having issues with faintness (to the point of seeing black spots) mid workout. I wound up going to the Dr and after several tests, we determined that my B/P doesn't rebound like it should after I go from sitting to standing. To combat this, we are now doing all standing activities, then all sitting activities and not back & forth. I haven't had any troubles since then.

I definitely try switching the granola bar (mostly carbs) with a protein shake (or something similar).

I do 25 mins of cardio (either stationary bike or the ellipitical) and then 15 mins or so of weights - a mix of arms, shoulders and thighs. I stretch a little bit afterwards and then immediately get dressed. Let's just say that my cardio is way more intense than my weigh workout - I enjoy my cardio MUCH more.

I will give the electrolyte drink a shot today and see how I feel. I also started AF yesterday and I wonder if that had anything to do with it? It's my first AF in over a year and I'm 3 months PP.

Never had a problem with my BP - it's always been normal - but I have had an issue with low blood sugar. But I always make sure that something is on my stomach before I proceed with my workout otherwise I don't feel right at all during the workout.
