Napping Alone For Longer than 45 minutes

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my 12 month old to nap longer than 45 minutes by himself? He wakes up after 45 minutes or so and gets off the bed, stands and cries, until I hear him. I can then usually nurse him back to sleep. I don't know that it would ever happen but it would be nice if he would take a 2 hr. nap without waking to nurse or waking because I'm not in bed with him.

I wish I had some magic advice, but I am right there with you. I either have to wear my 12 mo old and give her 2 good naps, or try to get her to nap alone for a max of 30mins. I am left with a very cranky, over-tired bear if she naps alone. I hope some other mamas have some great advice. If he is your only one, just nap with him and watch movies, surf the net, or read a good book. If my dd was my first, I would be milking the naps times for all there worth...which is great down time for both of you. If he is not your first, I know exactly how you feel....you are not alone

It's developmental. My DS was exactly the same until 15 months. He now takes one 2 hour nap all by himself. I never thought I would see the day. It happened after all his teeth broke through and he started sleeping better at night. Up until last month I would continue to lie with him so I could get him back down as soon as he popped up. I have done this for about 7 months and I believe the consistency probably helped in the long run when he was ready to nap by himself for a long time.

It will happen, and probably soon

how many naps a day does he take? My DD1 took 2 45-60 min naps until she transitioned to one nap, then it got longer.
