I WILL have a VBAC!

Thread Starter
I am going for the positive thinking!!!! I had a C-Section on April 14 2009, for Failure to Progress. I was dialated to a 5 after 22hrs of labor. My water broke at the beginning of my labor and the doctor gave me the impression that was my only choice. So I am now going for a VBAC with my second. This baby is due Jan 29 and They will be about 21-22 months apart.

I am going with a Midwife in the area that I know is VBAC friendly. (there is a parenting group here in IL that is SUPER supportive) There are about 4 hospitals in the area but only 1 accepts VBAC patients. I have my first Midwife appointment on June 15th, we will see how that goes. Im kinda nervous!

thanks for listening!

Congratulations! Getting supportive care providers is the first (an one of the most important steps). Try to be aware of your posture to encourage good positioning, http://www.spinningbabies.com, eat well and exercise.

As a VBAC mom and a doula, I've seen that choosing and practicing a breathing and relaxation method preparation makes a huge difference on a mom's ability to go natural (or delay meds) and therefore reduce other interventions. I did Hypnobabies, but there are lots of good methods, the key is to practice whatever you choose. I like Hypnobabies because there is a well-defined practice schedule and a variety of tools to use in labor quickly to get instant relaxation so it continues to work for you even after things get hard.

Also, hire a doula! My birth was very easy, but my doula's support was incredibly helpful. I have become a doula myself recently because after experiencing the value of extra support I wanted to give that to other women.
Here is my story. I hope to see yours in January/February!

That is great. I am planning to have a HBAC in just a few weeks, mid July. I decided to do it at home because I think I will have the best chance to have a normal birth there. Now I just need to get my baby to flip head down again! Keep in touch!

Way to go mama! Keep confident, keep strong, do lots of research, mental preparation and you're right, YOU WILL have a VBAC!!!!

And I too had my VBAC baby after my FTP baby, 21.5 months after my c/s!

Congratulations on your BFP!! I found a positive frame of mind was a HUGE help in getting me through 9 months of naysayers. There is a ton of wisdom on these boards...good luck!

This is interesting. That is basically exactly what happened to me, but I did wait 5 days after my water broke before going in for my induction which eventually led to an infection and a c-section. Staying home this time!!

Stand your ground, Mama, no matter what! You can totally do this!

Have you read the Bradley Birth book? It's really, really inspiring and kind of teaches you how to handle moments of weakness when you just want to give in and be like "just get this baby out!". It also gives your DP a clear role to play in encouraging you so he can be there making sure you do what you really want!

Good luck! Let us know as things progress!
