For those of us who had stitches...

Have your stitches dissolved yet? Mine haven't and I'm a little... bugged by it. It's been 5 weeks!! Unfortunately, it appears that my 2nd degree tear is healing kinda funny, but that's another story.

Just checking...

Mine have. They dissolved right around 5 weeks, probably.

Then I had some granulated tissue which had to be removed and then had to have silver nitrate put on it.

I think mine were all gone by 3 wks. The last one came loose in a big hunk during a bath. My inner labia is a bit tender still. I just had a 1st deg labial tear. My butt is STILL a bit numb and itsos hard to wipe properly

i probably healed up real good just before 5 wks. i had my mw appt to check at 5 wks and i remember at the beginning of the week that i didn't think i would be ready for sex by the end of the week. however i was ok and ready by a few days after.

i had maybe a skid mark from the actual birth, my skin split over the cyst and then that had to be cut out and then because it was a large cyst i need MORE stitches so it wasn't a simple stitch.

5 weeks sound about right to me, so any day for you. Are you doing your stitz baths? I also added witch hazel to my peri bottle & i think that helped too.

Thanks ladies! I'm not so worried, now. I guess I need to be better about doing sitz baths. How long do you sit there? I feel like I don't have a lot of time, so it's usually only a few minutes.

mine have dissolved but the area where they were is still really sore, especially on one side, it is really sore and achy still.
Sitz baths are usually 10 mins or so.

I know I still had some at three wks b/c part of it came undone but was still attached, so I had to cut the string. I will have m/w check to make sure they are all out at my six wk appt (I'm currently 5 wks pp). Until that is confirmed, nothing is going up in there I only did one or two sitz baths during the first 2 wks pp and stopped using my peri bottle as soon as it stopped hurting to pee (about three wks I think). I thought that stuff was just for during the painful time? My stitches are all on the inside.

I did not have stitches this time around (yay - first birth without stitches of some sort), but the ones I had after my third birth didn't dissolve on their own. I ended up going to the OB to have him take them out b/c they hadn't really dissolved at all.

So, aside from stitches... how are everyone's nether regions?

8 weeks pp...

I still feel painful down there. I can still feel a big gaping area where my tear was. Is it always going to be like that? I'm getting a bit worried about some prolapse issues, too. Like, it just feels wrong down there. When I use the bathroom it feels funny...sort of the same feeling as if a tampon/diva cup is sitting too low. Ugh. The NP I saw for my 6 week pp visit didn't say anything except that I had some tissue that needed to be removed, so she removed it with silver nitrate.

Also, I had stopped bleeding, but since I had the Mirena put in I've been bleeding red again. Not a lot, but enough that I've needed a couple of super-thin panty liners every day. It's really really dark red blood, almost black looking. I hope it stops eventually.

Someday I'd like to DTD again. And DH would like to have DTD again, like, a month ago.

I'm a bit sore on my left labia and I don't think I even had stitches there. I haven't investigated with a mirror, but everything in my vaginal area feels normal. I think I still have a flap of skin on my perineum from the 2nd deg tear I had with my son. I know it made it a bit more challenging for the midwife to stitch me up.

As for my butt, I still have a couple bulges that don't hurt and it's still kinda numb so I haven't escaped the darn skidmark problem which is gross.

We haven't DTD yet either but between the big kids during the day and baby who comes to bed with us (along with exhaustion) it's not going to happen soon.

I'm in the same boat, almost exactly. I'm 5 1/2 weeks PP and there's still obvious stitches, a gaping area at the bottom and it's starting stinging again when I pee. It stopped stinging at about 3 weeks, then the past 1 1/2 weeks, it's been stinging again, this time where the stitches are. I've been fighting mastitis and thrush though, so it may be some external yeast or something... I don't know.

I saw a MW at 2 weeks pp and asked about the gaping bit. She said that it's "cosmetic" and that the part that isn't healing together will come together "eventually." I'd like to DTD again someday too... actually, I would have liked to a month ago, but next week would be nice, too. As it is, I'm petrified to touch, muchless think about putting anything in there. I had my husband look (amateur gynecologist that he is... ) and he's like, "Oh, boy. Not gonna happen for awhile, babe. I'm not going to be the cause of MORE pain to you down there. Let's take it easy for another month or two." Bless him for being patient, but really... why won't this HEAL?! We'll see what the MW says at my appt next week.
