Hope I can post this here. A friend just sent me this link. There is a live waterbirth online right now.

How beautiful! She did so amazing. How generous of the family to let us in on the experience.

For anyone who was curious, Ricki Lake really was on and watching last night. She replied to my tweet today.

i couldn't believe how badly folks in the IRC chat room behaved regarding her being there!

(or in general at a few times)

I totally agree. I didn't get involved in the chat at all. But really, I thought, "I hope Shawna isn't able to read this later." People were at times so rude and completely the opposite of the type of energy I'd want around me during birth. I guess that is one of the wonders of the internet though.

I hope Mom, baby and family are settling in well. Seeing that in the raw uncut footage version was really strong for me.

Yeah I did not get in the chat at all either, the anonymity of the Internet does so often enbolded folks to get really strange. I'm glad that on MDC we are usually lucky to see the better side of things.

Seeing that birth was amazing for me but even huger for my dh, he had never seen a birth (I grew up in a home birthing environment) so even though he didn't watch as close as i did, he clearly saw how smooth and happy it was, this was big for him, he has only had the ER work of his and the mainstream media and medical veiw that birth is some sort of medical emergency.
I'm going to work on him seeing as many things like this as I can as my pregnancy progresses.

How amazing! Good for them. So nice to see another happy, healthy baby enter the world gently.

And I liked it because it finally got one of my friend to agree with me in an ongoing discussion. She swore that all the Hypnobabies moms just "conveniently forget what it was like and edit out all the unpleasant parts of their videos" (including me, even though I told her about the birth within 45 minutes of it happening and showed her my uneditted video.) But watching a Hypnobabies mom giving birth live finally proved to her that they really can be calm and happy - without edits!
