Another potty question- he can do it when naked!

So when we are home, we let DS run around with only a shirt on. If he has no training pants or diaper on, he pees in the potty 100% of the time- no accidents and he can tell us at meal time to let him down because he needs to go. He also has done pretty well with poop but I understand it's harder for some kids with that. Anyway, once we put him in any type of underwear, training pants, or even just shorts with nothing under, he will pee or poop in it as if he forgets.
I know he can pull down his underwear or training pants because when it is time for a bath, he can whip them off in a matter of seconds and he likes to strip at nap time. When his privates are covered, I think he feels too comfy to stop playing and uses it to his advantage because he knows we will change him.

If he can do it without clothes on, how can I get him to do it when he DOES have them on?

BTW- we do have reusable training pants that make him FEEL when it is wet but apparently that doesn't matter.

This was DS a few weeks ago. Keep with the nekkid for a while more. Don't use diapers unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. DS had to kind of "forget" what it was like to be wearing a diaper, because his body was used to being able to pee when there was something there.

We then transitioned to short periods of time in clothing, CONSTANTLY offering the potty. It worked.

This has been us for months now. Potty learning has been a long road for us so far - not traumatic, just slow. Small steps. So we're at the stage you're describing now. We've had a lot of successes if we're out in the morning with underwear (and clothes!) on; but when we're at home, he has to be naked or he pees/poops in his pants (cloth training pants, shorts alone, underwear alone, whatever). If he poops when we're at home in the middle of the day (for #2's nap), then we usually try the afternoon in underwear if we go out - we are having more successes there too. But we don't go out every morning or afternoon - and if we're home, we're not having a lot of successes if he's clothed. Not sure what to do to progress past this point. Just time probably? He's 3.5 and started this journey of his own accord at about 2.5.

We had the same phenomenon with DS. I just kept him naked at home and made him go potty every 20 minutes or so. Once he was accident-free at home that way, we tried undies while out. But again, he went every 20 minutes whether he "needed" to or not (b/c at that stage, he always had something to produce!). After awhile, it morphed into going just whenever we got into/out of the car, before we left someplace/as soon as we got someplace, etc. It's about 3 months later and he's mostly fine without any sort of schedule, although I do still keep the potty in the car, just in case.

I remember this stage well. For a while I wondered if either of my daughters would ever wear undies. I have no idea how we got past that stage but am happy to say they both now have clean undies. Sorry. Not much help. Just know that it will happen.
