Low/no sugar strawberry freezer jam?

I made freezer jam last year with the Sure Jell recipe and it turned out great. But I'm not all that keen on using all that sugar if I can avoid it. Does anyone know of a good freezer jam recipe that doesn't use so much sugar? Or is the sugar necessary to work with the pectin and make the jam set? My main requirement is that is has to be a freezer jam, I have no cellar or anyplace to store jars of jam that will stay cool since I have no basement. Thanks!!!

Just use low/no sugar pectin. Here is a link to Pomona's (my personal pectin of choice), but Sure Jell and Ball make them, too.

You don't need a basement to store jam. I just have a cupboard for it.

But I totally agree with Velochic - Pomona's is the best choice if you want to play with sugar types/amounts.

Thanks for the ideas! I don't have a cupboard to put jams in. At least not inside the house. And since the ones in the garage get over 100 degrees on a regular basis in the summer I don't want to store it in there. If we ever move to a place with more storage I'll keep this in mind though. I always thought you needed a basement/someplace cool to keep canned stuff since that's where my mom put it all when I was a kid.
