what "pail" system do you use for your CDs

I am kind of clueless and new to CDing. We are going with prefolds and covers and I am wondering what I need for the diaper pail. I know a good cloth liner is needed but do I need to put anything else in the pail to keep down the smell, help with stains, ect?

Sterilite tall kitchen trash can with lid and foot pedal, lined with pail liner that goes in the wash with the diapers (we have 2 so there is one available on laundry day).

PUL bag, hangs from doorknob, dry. Add a little essential oil to the micofiber swatch inside the bag once we start solids. I have two so that I always have a clean one, toss the dirty one in with the dirty dipes for each wash. Easy Peasy.

We also have a standard pail with a foot pedal (foot pedal = essential!) lined with a big wet bag. We have two wet bags so when one is in the wash we use the other one. We don't use anything for smells and his room isn't stinky. We do laundry every other day. We have to use a bin on top of the lid to keep it closed because the bag is bulky. I'm sure there's a better way, but it hasn't bothered us for 17 months now so why change it.

Dry pail w/baking soda.

We have a 19 Qt storage container lined with a plastic Target shopping bag, which fits in the front loader, barely. I stick the whole pail in and then turn over to empty. If you have a front loader, you have to think a little extra.

I use a cheap garbage can with a flip up lid. I don't use a pail liner nor have I ever in the 3 1/2yrs of cloth diapering. If it gets really stinky or poo smeared I will spray it with vinegar and let it set for a little while and spray with hot water. Cheap and it works great!

I use a small garbage can, no liner, no BS, no lid. Very simple.

This is basically what I use, minus the foot pedal. It works great, no odor.

We use a five gallon bucket, well, two buckets, one upstairs and one downstairs. I have lids for them but really only put the lids on when we were showing our house to sell. I don't line the buckets, but I do rinse them out with hot water on wash day. If they get really stinky, I will put a few drops of TTO/lavendar on a wipe and toss that in the bucket, but usually I don't do anything. Cheap and easy.

we used a basic storage tub (like the rubbermade or sterilite kind) and then eventually got a tall kitchen type trash can. I never bothered with a liner or what not. Every week or more often if it got dirty from poop I would simply spritz with a little cleaning spray (tto and vinegar/water) and spray off with the garden hose and sun dry.

i have used a wetpail and found it too difficult to dump and it would get skunky real fast, that is with breastfed poops, i cannot speak for solids. I gave that up, i went to a garbage can with foot pedal lined with a garbage bag and a net laundry bag, worked great and i could use the same garbage bag about 5 times before i had to change it. I now use a zip up wetbag made from a PEVA table cloth i bought at walmart for $4. We had to move and have a tiny bathroom now, so the big stainless steal can we had no longer fit. It is now being used in the kitchen and you would never know it used to be my drypail. We do not have stink issues because we keep the bag air tight and wash every 2-3 days.

We use a dry pail as well. 13 gallon trash can w/ a swinging top lid and a Kissaluvs antibacterial liner. No stink issues thus far and we've been using this system for 3 months.

Me too. We just keep ours in the laundry room. No liner, because that's just something more to wash and dry. I just spray out the inside with hot soapy water when needed.

We use wet buckets. At the moment they live next to the toilet. We are using Napisan in them but a friend of my Mum's recommended a few drops of eucalyptus oil and we may try that soon. We have a "Little Squirt" which we use to fill the buckets and also rinse the pooey nappies into the toilet so the water stays nice and clean.

At the moment we are filling about one and a half buckets a day using terry squares and some covers with inserts.

We use a wool hanging wet bag. I've mentioned it here before, but I made it from a giant old wool sweater that I felted down a bit and then lanolinized.

I wash every 2-3 days, and there is never any stink since switching to the wool bag. Wool=amazing.
