Where did the poop go?

DS has always pooped multiple times a day for his whole life. I even posted a question about it! But, now he hasn't gone for 3 days. He is still EBF so that hasn't changed. I know it's pretty normal for BF babies to go long, but it's very abnormal for DS.

Do I do anything? Just wait? WWYD? Any help would be appreciated...I'm scared of what's going to come out when it does!!

Yeah, I think that's pretty normal for it to change like that. I hear of that happening all the time in EBF babies. I think their gut gets to be more efficient at taking up the food. They may start to nurse less for that reason.

When we started solids, my DS literally pooped only 4 times in an entire month! (Are you still not doing solids with your baby though? Sometimes people say EBF, but they do do some solids with their babies). He eventually regulated to more of an every 3 days schedule, which he has been on for the past few months.

No need to do anything about it -- it's very unlikely they're constipated -- unless he seems uncomfortable or is having very hard stools, he probably isn't.

After going 8 days without pooping our doc said we could do a suppository if we wanted to ... we never ended up doing it. It was one big, smelly mess when it eventually came out though!

Thanks for your response. We've only done solids a few times and it's been a few weeks since he's had any. 4 times in a month?!! That's crazy!

On the upside, it's made the transition to cloth diapers easier

Yeah, my ds1 was always a multiple-poopers-a-day kinda guy, but ds2 has spaced out to every 2-5 days now, and I'm lovin it! He's nearly 10 months now and does get some solids too, but still probably 80-90% ebf My only warning, is sometimes, when they finally do go, its pretty explosive
