How many sheet sets and towels for family of 4?

Feel like we are overflowing with towels and sheets and am going to purge when I am off work for summer break. (first thing on my list of things to do!)
What works for your family?

I have one set of sheets per bed, plus one large unfitted one that can be used in an emergency. I simply remove them from the beds, wash them, and replace them the same day so I don't have piled up laundry around.

I also have one towel per person, plus a few swim towels set aside for that purpose. I do a sanitize load of towels and kitchen cloths every other day.

We are a family of six and this works well for us.

We have two sets of sheets per bed (so one on the bed & one extra at all times) & about 12 bath towels & 7 or 8 beach towels for a family of 5. It works out well & doesn't require me to be doing towel/sheet laundry constantly.

We have at least 2 sets of sheets for each person which reasonably match thier rooms. We also have a couple of sets for the kids which don't match but do get used in emergencies. That said We still have kids who do wet the bed now and again. For the same reason we also have a spare duvet and pillow to hand.

I'm not sure how many towels we have. Probably a bath towel each plus a couple of spares. I would like more hand towels though as I like to change them regularly but don't wash everyday.

I have far too many here too - I'm aiming for 2 sets of sheets for each bed, and 2 sets of towels for each person. And as long as I don't leave the laundry until the last minute I think that means it'll be ok for emergencies / unexpected guests etc

I don´t like having to wash towels and sheets too often, so we have 3 sets per bed/person plus one extra for guests/emergencies.

So it is usually one on the bed, one in the wash or on the line-dryer, one kept in the cupboard.

We all tend to catchstomach bugs, so I really like to have more in case of emergencies.

One light cotton set and one flannel set per bed. (Cotton for the summer, flannel for the winter.) I do as an early poster said and wash and make in the same day once a week. The other set stays in the cupboard. I have a lot (25???) of pillowcases though in the linen cupboard - I don't know what's up with that! LOL

We have a lot of towels. But we live near the beach so that's okay!!!

We have two sheets per bed (baby has 4 flat sheets) and a bunch (8 or 10) of the same white towels.

Think about the most house guests you expect at one time or the worst stomach bug... anything you would not need in those scenarios is totally unnecessary.

DH and I have a queen bed, and right now we only have 1 set of sheets for it. I wouldn't mind a second set. The other beds all have 2 sets.

For towels, we have 6 bath towels for 4 people and 6 or 8 hand towels for regular use. We have another set of 4 bath towels and 4 hand towels that I don't use daily, mostly because they don't coordinate with the bathrooms in the house we're living in right now.

We also have an old set of 4 bath towels and 2 or 3 hand towels that are quite worn. They're used by the dog!

one adult, one teen, one child here

one queen bed, one full, one twin, each has one set of sheets. i like nicer sheets, which are spendy, so just one set each is feasible, plus i get bored easily and may want to change colors without having to buy 2 or 3 sets

as for towels, it used to be 4 in the kids bathroom, four in mine, but that recently, i bought some new towels and loved them so much i went overboard (they are nice but not spendy!). i have six bath towels, six handtowels and 6 washcloths in each bathroom, so 12 of each type.

what happens now is that we only use a towel twice instead of about 4 times, so i'm doing towels twice as often as i used to, plus my washer and dryer can only handle 5 towels at once so now i always have wet towels waiting to be washed.

We are in a roommate situation and everything is shared towel-wise.
We probably have 20 or so bathtowels and we shower 2x a day so thats 6 showers here, new towels each time. Hand towels get changed out as needed. Kitchen towels are changed several times a day, We have a dog here as well.

Bedding is seperate, DS has 3 sets (i think) and i have 3 sets. That works well for us. We wash towels every couple days and sheets are changed weekly.

When DS and I move out I may just get us all new towels and start over in that area.

Family of 5~
2 summer & 2 winter sheet sets per bed
7 wash cloths per person (we use 3-4 on the kids daily)
towels are 3 or 4 per child, 6 per adult (this includes for guests)
beach towels are 2 per child & 1 per adult
a drawer full of dish towels (wanting to pair down to 14 total--matching would be heaven) and dish cloths are 8

It sounds like alot, but it really isn't.

Family of 4.

We have 6 big towels, 4 face cloths and 2 fitted sheets for each bed. (Two twins and a king.) We never use the flat sheets but I have some of them and am planning to make extra pillow cases out of them.

Sheets: 2 summer sets and 1 winter set per bed for adults and teens.

I have an extra set for my youngest in case of an accident at night (which only happens very rarely) so the bed is made up completely twice....ie mattress protector then waterproof cover...then bottom sheet, top sheet then another mattress protector, waterproof cover, then another set of sheets.

Towels..

We have about 20 beach towels, but we have a pool and also live not far from the beach!

Bath towels I do need to cull some...we have about 6 per person and I think I can cut that down.

Forgot about the beach towels! We have a half-dozen, in addition to the bath/hand towels mentioned above.

I keep 1 set of sheets for each bed plus one extra of each size (toddler, twin, and queen) and a few extra pillowcases. I normally wash one bed each day when I do laundry, so that one extra set for each size works well for the 3 twin beds here lol

Towels, I have about 50 for the 6 of us LOL I need to cut it down to 2 per person.

update - I was just reminded by a little flood here to also keep in mind how many towels you want around if your water heater breaks and leaks all over the floor...

we have lots of towels as messes happen. 4 towels, 2 hand, 4 wash clothes per bathroom, plus assorted cleanup towels
as for sheets, 1 per bed, including the air mattress, plus a twin srt for camping. i then have lots of extra flat sheets to use in emergencies, camping, or to make forts

We have 1 set per person, plus 2 extra sets, which is NOT enough for company when we have a family of 3-4 come to stay with us. I do not want to have to buy more though - they take so much room to store!

Sheets - 2 sets per bed (3 beds so far); 1 set for air mattress, 1 set for fold-out sofa, 1 set for smaller air mattress. Whew!
