HELP! My 9 1/2 Month old Won't Nurse!

I am new at all of this but I am feeling very sad and frustrated. My baby got a stomach virus and has been sick all week, not eating/drinking as much, but was still nursing, until yesterday. We could not get her to hardly drink anything at all yesterday, so scary! I pumped and we tried giving her my breastmilk in a sippy cup, regular cup, sports bottle, baby bottle, straw, and had to sadly force her with a seringe to get some fluid intake, but she didn't want it and still has not nursed for 2 days!! She is eating some of her foods again, thank goodness and taking ice chips, but I am not ready to be done nursing at all and she still needs it! I am afraid even when she feels back to normal that she still won't want to breastfeed.

What can I do? I don't want to force her. It is like she is a completely different baby all of a sudden. I have nursed her for 9 1/2 months and then one day she wakes up(even though she was sick) and she pushes me away and screams and acts like I'm torturing her by just nursing. We had her checked out and she doesn't have an ear infection, she doesn't have a sore throat, just the stomach virus, but will she want to nurse again and I can I help get her back to it? If she won't nurse how can I get her to drink the pumped breast milk? She doesn't want to drink out of anything right now.

Please, any and all advice/suggestions are most welcome!!

Thanks!

sorry this may sound abrupt - i'm nursing and typing one-handed.

sounds like a strike.

very important to keep her hydrated. r you pumping to keep up your supply? have you tried giving her breastmilk ice chips? spoon feeding breastmilk?

keep offering her the breast in new positions and new places, but with no stress about her taking it. try bathing together. try when she is sleepng. also, remove any sources of sucking (bottle, paci) besides you.

www.kellymom.com has great info - just search "strike"

good luck

Thank you so much! That is great advice. I will try all of those. But how do I try nursing when she is asleep?? I've never done that before.

She is taking regular ice chips so I will try breast milk ice chips today.

I appreciate your help.
