I used to go to something similar every day, every summer while growing up. It was a total blast. There were usually 2 "Park Leaders" who would organize games, crafts etc. We would even have a special parent/kid event at night and it was a great community experience. Lunch was not served though and all the kids were sent home for lunch. There was no signing in/out, everything was pretty loosey goosey... but it was the 70's.

I think some pp have suggested some great questions to ask. If you feel comfortable with the answers, I'd say go for it.

How big is the program? Is it just one city employee? Or is it a whole day camp program with many counselors and kids? I would be more likely to say yes if it was at least a few counselors, even if that meant a lot more kids would be there. How many days is the program?

In general, I'd say yes. I loved going to day camp as a little kid, and loved working as a jr. counselor at a day camp as a young teen.
