Those that work during school hours only...

What do you do and what is your schedule?

My daughter is entering full time school (9am-3:40pm) this fall and I am planning to try and find some kind of part time work.

For others in the same kind of situation: what is your job and what hours do you work? Do you find that school-hour-only employment is working for you?

Well I teach in the district that my kids go to, so we have pretty much the same schedule. There are a few professional development days where I have to find a sitter, but other than that my hours are pretty much theirs.

There are all sorts of support staff positions that need to be filled at schools also, secretary, classroom aides, recess/lunch aides, library/computer lab aides. Have you considered something of that sort?

My son was in K this year. His school hours are 7:45-2:35. I worked Mon/Wed/Fri 8-2 so I dropped him off and picked him up. On Tues/Thurs I took classes from 8-1:45 so I dropped him off and picked him up those days too. I'm not sure what my work/school schedule will be this fall (I have the summer off work and am taking online summer classes so I can spend the summer with my ds) but I know I'll only work/take classes during his school time.

ETA- I work(ed) at a daycare

Pretty much this. I'm the preschool teacher at the charter school that my kids attend. I do go in early to do my prep work, but I can bring my kids with me, or they can use the extended day service (for free!). I have a staff meeting after school once a week, and again they go to extended day during that time.

I LOVE my job, and this arrangement works so well for our family. I only work part-time- 3 mornings/week, and it's awesome.

I'm a pediatric occupational therapist working in the public school system. (We assess and treat fine/visual motor skills and sensory processing in students in special education....just wanted to explain b/c lots of people don't know what OT does in the school setting. ) My schedule is during school hours, and very flexible. I write reports and score assessments and do paperwork at home, and then see students for therapy at their school sites. Great pay, great benefits through my district. Lots of autonomy and independence which I love.
Another option (requiring little to no schooling, depending on your background) would be to work as a teacher's assistant or our district also has "intervention specialists" who support special ed students in their classrooms. This just requires a bachelor's degree and a desire to work with kids...but still has school hours.
Best wishes!

I will echo working at the daycare/preschool for the morning shift would work out good for that time frame.

I also work for a school district. I work as a secretary/aide in a resource room. My son attends a private school so a couple of days a year we have to figure out care for him as the public/private school schedules are slightly different. I have summers off with him and most holidays as well. I work from 7:30-2:30 and he is in school from 8:30-3:15. My DH takes him to school at 8 as they are allowed to be there at 8:00. The schedule works out great for us.
