Hi! I'm new and I joined specifically looking for moms who were dx'd with GD and have given birth. I've had such a hard time finding birth stories and it terrifies me that everyone's was so terrible, that they never talk about it. The ONLY literature I've been able to find has been put out by the medical community and I'm sure that if they had their way, I'd be scheduling my cesarean today! Please grant me the honor of hearing your birth experience with GD.
Here is mine so far. I have PCOS and my dad is Type 1 diabetic. After my FIRST appointment with a midwife, she scheduled me with an endocrinologist, who in turn scheduled me for a 1 hour. I was JUST under the cut off, but she scheduled me for a 3 hour anyway. I took that and according to her all my numbers were high. I was diagnosed with GD, passed on to a dietitian and given a meter. After a week, I had another appointment with the midwife. She told me that since I have GD, I'm not allowed to see the midwife anymore. We are currently looking for an OB. I went back to the endo, who put me on 20u of insulin at night, with the likelihood that I'll be on meal-time insulin by the end of this journey. And... I'm ONLY 22weeks. Needless to say, this pregnancy has been frustrating and I'm trying to find a silver lining, but at the same time feeling like a sitting duck for the medical professionals around me. I just need some help. Please give me a little light at the end of the tunnel.
