Huge hugs to all the Dingos that dealt with the bullies, and even bigger ones for the Dinglets. I had an especially hard time in middle school, and am having random freak outs about Court starting her new school next year. I know she's a far different child than I was, but I also know that she tends to internalize things and wouldn't tell me right away if something was happening.
Thought I was off call this week (which you would think would lead to more FM, but noooooooo). But Thursday at 4 am I got a call to my cell with a number I didn't recognize from a client due in July. Her water had just broken. She went to the hospital but wasn't really contracting, so I went to clinic in Seattle. At 10 I got a call that she was in rip roaring active labor, so I was suddenly very glad to be in town. Flew to her (luckily only 15 minutes away), her baby was born at 11:31, surrounded by the crankiest hospital staff I've ever experienced. Little J was 4 lbs 3 oz, was breathing on his own but whisked pretty quickly to NICU. Thank goodness for unmedicated births and tough as nails mama, we got her stable, fed and cleaned up in an hour and a half and by his side in the nursery. I hate seeing families start their parenting this way, but if anyone can handle it with grace it's her, since she is an OT that worked for a year in a NICU. She knows what she's up against, she knows the long term ramifications of what happens to the kids there, and she's very strong in advocating for herself and her baby.
It's finally sunny today, so I'm getting some coffee in and then will be heading out for a run. I've gone from 5-6 days a week to 2-3 workouts/week for the last 3, and the result is a few extra pounds and feeling like a bloated slug. I'm plotting a way to meet Plady for a run during DD's class trip to SJI Mon-Wed, hoping I can keep up and don't embarass myself. Then DD has a soccer game, I have to pack (for tent camping, which I haven't done since the 3-Day 7 years ago!) and figure out my GF food for the trip to coordinate with the group meals.
Oh, I also had my hair permanently straightened yesterday. I'm so in love with it (pics on FB), but can't wash it for 3 days. Yet I'm going to run anyway....probably a poor choice!
I promise, if I can survive the next 2 weeks with end of school stuff, I'll
