DS2 is 21 months and I need some encouragement getting him out of diapers.
With DS1 it was really easy, he always went #2 at the same time of day, first thing in the morning, and loved sitting on his potty which he started doing around 6 months. He was out of daytime diapers fully before his second birthday, witch also happened to be just before his brother was born, it was really important for him to be out of diapers before his brother arrived.
With DS2 it is a little harder, he won't stay on the potty or toilet with a seat, he plays with the potty if I leave it out, DS1 never touched his potty except to use it. With DS1 he was naked a lot and because he pretty much always pooped on the potty every morning I didn't have to worry too much about cleaning up poo off the floor, only pee. DS2's poo is still not super solid, which may be a reflection of his diet because he eats a LOT of plain yogurt with fruit and grape nuts, so cleaning it up off the floor is something I am trying to avoid. Also he is not telling me he has to go or that he has already gone. Even when I know he pooped in his diaper and I ask him he says no.
I guess I need to just suck it up and keep him diaper free until he gets it. We do spend quite a bit of time outside and I do keep him diaper free while we are outside now that it is warmer, but I just let him pee wherever like his older brother should I bring out the potty for him to use?. I just had baby #3 7 weeks ago and am getting a little tired of always changing diapers and yesterday we were really busy running around and visiting family and each time I changed him he was really wet and I felt really bad that he had been so wet. I really wanted to get him out of diapers before she was born but it was winter and cold so being naked was hard to do and to be honest I was slacking and trying to get other things done to prepare for her.
So what are your best tips to get him to stay put on the potty and communicate his need to go? He will be 2 in late August and would like him to be out of diapers during the day at home and in training pants while we are out and at night.
