Fundal height and baby size.....???

I start to measure 2cm behind once I reach 34 weeks. Right now I'm 37 weeks and measuring 35w.

With my first- he was 7.7pds. With my second I had the exact same measurements but he was a full pound larger.

And now with my third I'm following the same pattern but this babe feels huge!! He/she is already feeling as big as DS2 did at full term.

What are your experiences with fundal height and birth size??

Thanks!!

A few cm difference either way isn't a big deal, and I don't think it means much with regards to size. With my second baby, though, she never measured past 37, even though I went 11 days overdue. It turns out she had a massive stroke at the end of the pregnancy, and was only 6.10 at birth (compared to my other two that were also a week or more over who were 8.9 and 8.6). But there was a bigger discrepancy in the FH than a couple cm.

I always measured 4-6 cms too large with DD and she as born 12 days past edd and 7 pounds, small baby. I don't think the two have much to do with each other.

I measured 2-3cm behind with DD2 the entire 3rd tri...and she was 9lb 8oz and 22" at 41w. Like you, I could feel that she was big. I even asked my OB who assured me that she didn't think there was any way she was more than just over 8lb. Even the OB who ended up delivering her--who has been in practice for decades--didn't think I was carrying anything bigger than an 8.5lber.

I fully believe in momma intuituion when it comes to babies "feeling big". You know what your other babes felt like in utero! In fact, I vaguely remember reading somewhere that momma intuition is more reliable in predicting big babies than fundal height...

I would trust your intuition!

However, fundal height doesnt mean anything about the baby considering so many different things come into play with it (hydration, body type, whether baby has engaged, fluid levels, how your uterus is shaped/tilted)

With both my boys I measured right on week for week. They were 7lb3 at 41+2 and 7lb2 at 38w.

With DD, I stalled at 35cm at 36 weeks and didn't seem to get any bigger. There was some concern about a small baby, my intuition told me that everything was fine and I could feel her bum getting fatter! But I stopped gaining weight and my measurements didn't get any larger.
She came on her due date at 7lb11oz
