Welcome to the Kate Plus 8 thread.

In the past, we have had difficulty keeping threads about the Gosselins on the boards. With that in mind, please read and review these thread-specific guidelines before posting.

This is the television forum. The purpose of the television forum is to discuss Kate Plus Eight, the television show. Posts discussing Kate Gosslin's personal life outside of the show, celebrity gossip, and other topics that have not been discussed on the show, will be deleted and possibly alerted.

All posts must both adhere to the forum's purpose (see above) and the User Agreement, specifically
Quote:
Do not post in a disrespectful, defamatory, adversarial, baiting, harassing, offensive, insultingly sarcastic or otherwise improper manner, toward a member or other individual, including casting of suspicion upon a person, invasion of privacy, humiliation, demeaning criticism, name-calling, personal attack, or in any way which violates the law.
Defamatory posting is posting that is purposely harmful and/or untrue with the intention to malign. MDC no longer hosting celebrity gossip, which should cover most of it, but we will also not host speculation of a harmful nature, including allegations of abuse or armchair mental health diagnoses. This is also covered under "casting suspicion".

Please do not bait others by trying to make end runs around the User Agreement and hinting that members posting to this thread on either "side" are somehow morally deficient. It will not be tolerated, and is not the purpose of this forum. Discuss the show, not the members who discuss the show.

Please refrain from discussing and/or linking to tell-all blogs, aerial shots of private properties, etc.

Please refrain from personal attacks and namecalling. To clarify, you may state how you feel or how something makes you feel. You may feel certain actions are selfish, careless, or mean. You may not call someone selfish, careless, or mean.

This isn't the place to debate religion, family planning/fertility, discipline techniques, etc. If you want to have an extended conversation on those topics, please start a thread in the proper forum.

This thread will be actively moderated. Periodically, to ease moderation, the thread will be locked and a new thread will be started. Posts that violate these guidelines will be removed and alerted.

Kate Gosselin is certainly not core to MDC's purpose, and if these guidelines can't be adhered to, the thread will be removed. Members who cannot abide by the thread guidelines will be alerted, and also risk having their access to the Television forum removed altogether.

While it's natural to discuss how things seen on the show make us feel and what we think about them, it is not the purpose of this thread or MDC to engage in character assassination. Please refrain from posting general indictments against show participants. Calls to action, such as cancelling the show or seeking legislation to help protect children who participate in reality television, belongs in Activism.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to PM me.

Just watched the two new episodes and I was amazed at how much the kids had grown up over the past year! (And can I just say what a cool 6th birthday - how awesome must it have been to swim with dolphins and stingrays!!!)

I think this show will hold its own without Jon--the premise seems the same. I really liked the show about just Kate and the whole dancing thing that followed the premiere. I really appreciated the comments by the folks that they interviewed about their thoughts on Kate. Somehow, whether it be editing or something else, she seems like she has grown. I don't care how famous you might, raising that many kids has got to be so hard...single or not.

I definitely think Kate has grown, too, since last year. I cannot imagine living through as tough a time as she's had in the last year or so. I love how she tries to focus on making memories, and it was important to her that the one sick daughter got to do some of the activities she missed on the sick day, so she wouldn't remember missing out for years to come. That's gotta be one hard part about multiples: If I missed something as a kid because I was sick, I didn't necessarily know what I was missing, but with siblings to tell you all about it, that must be hard!

Oh, and this may be too close to celebrity gossip, but I'm trying hard to keep it from info I heard on the show: Last year, Jon & Kate both said the kids would stay at the big house, because they bought the house for the kids, etc. and that the parents would switch as their custody arrangements dictated. But on this week's show, Kate said the kids needed to take their sleeping bags to Dad's apartment for their time with him. What happened to the kids staying at the house? Did they ever discuss that on the show?

Unless the answer is revealed in the show, that would be considered celebrity gossip. Sorry!

Well, can someone tell me if I missed something that reveals the answer?

Unfortunately she didn't elaborate on the show this past week

I really can't believe how big the little kids are. I remember when they were tiny and in their cribs all around that room in the other house!

I think she's doing a great job with the hand she's dealt. I certainly wouldn't have the cojones to come out w/my own show after everything. I too think the show will do great w/o Jon.

And now I really want to go to Discovery Cove!!!
