How old to stop "frogging" in Mei Tai / Ergo?

Wondering how old your little one was when you were able to stop "frogging" legs in the Ergo or Mei Tai? My LO is 8 weeks and is getting pretty cramped in there, but I wasn't sure if it was okay for his body to be carried "seated" yet. Thoughts?

3 months is the rule of thumb.

I've heard that a good transition is to do one leg out, one leg froggied. my ds is the same age, and is getting tired of being froggied. I tried spread-leg, but it doesn't look like he's comfortable stretching out like that.. still too small. He actually did the one in one out thing on his own.. seems to work for now.

Thanks! He's a big long baby so perhaps in a couple of weeks he will be ready. One leg sounds like a good try for now.

L is almost 8 weeks. She is trying to stand up in most carriers when froggied. I put her legs out in the pikkolo (it cinches) and in the moby. She generally still rides froggied in the ergo and mei tei. But if she's fighting it I'll splay her legs for a few minutes- i think she feels relief from stretching out for a bit.

I stopped around 8 weeks. I just pulled the crotch part together and put her legs in hanging out the sides. So her hips are not spread apart that far.

So, first I froggied her in there, but then there was a period between 3 months and about 5-5.5 months where she hated/was too big to froggy, but disliked/wasn't ready for splaying. So, I used a different carrier for that period.

So, in my case, it was about 5-5.5 months, but I had a 4-6 week lull where I couldn't use it at all.

If the baby is old enough for me to carry him/her on my hip, I don't have problems putting them in a carrier legs out.
