21 day cleanse (xposted in nutrition)

I didn't get much of a response over there so thought I'd try over here. I am trying to get to a goal weight of 115 (I am 5'), am BF and my DD is 11 months. I haven't been feeling great lately (some joint aches and pains, headache and fatigue) and want to get to my goal by my high school reunion in July. So, I did Kathy Freston's 21 day cleanse (vegan, no caffeine, no sugar, no gluten) thinking I might benefit from no gluten and dairy. I did it for 6 days and lost a pound (yeah!) But I felt the same with worse headaches and was a little concerned about my supply. I ate a big dinner last night, not following cleanse, and my breasts were full this morning. Thought maybe problem was too few calories but I entered them into Calorie Count and was averaging 2200. Any ideas? I'd like to continue but don't want to risk my milk supply or my baby.

From what I understand, cleansing is not for weight loss that is permanent... I'm sorry that I cannot offer more advice, other than that a pound a week is totally healthy and so it sounds like you're doing a fine job.

I think it's fairly normal to get headaches during the beginning of a cleanse as your body is releasing things. I'm curious about what the folks in the nutrition section will say about cleansing while bfing - I wonder whether you should be concerned about toxins getting in to your milk? Good luck. I don't know about her cleanse, but if that's the gist of it, I think you will definitely lose weight and start feeling great soon.

I was curious about the toxins in my milk, too, but I ate pretty clean before so I didn't worry too much about it. I haven't been really strict to it; I am thinking I will do it up until dinner (breakfast, 2 snacks and lunch) and then be more lenient for dinner. That way I don't have to cook a separate meal for hubby and me.
