Cleaning potty?

Not sure if this is in the right place or not.

DD is just starting to use a potty and I'm wondering how you clean it afterwards? She's only peed but I'm curious about what to do with poop--flush then what?

We've been at it for a week and DS has pooped on the floor and in a diaper, no potty yet. But when he does I plan on rinsing it with water and then spraying it with a vinegar water bottle. Or else just washing it by hand with soap and water. For the pees, we've just been rinsing it out.

I'd wipe any actual poop that didn't slide out itself with tp, then spray (with either diluted vinegar or a tto all-purpose soap) and dry with some tp again. I'd just rinse pee with water.

Regular use: Urine I dump in the toilet, rinse the potty and dump the rinse water in the toilet. Bowel movements I dump, wipe with toilet paper and then clean with a baby wipe or a spray of something handy (water with tto, vinegar a tiny bit of Dr Bronner's and rinse). It gets cleaned when the bathroom gets cleaned and used often enough that more cleaning would be wasteful.

Infrequent use: It is kept in the van. I try to remember to put a napkin or something on the bottom to catch the poo (which is dealth with like a diaper of poo). Urine gets dumped by the tire and wiped with a baby wipe. I figure if the baby wipe can keep his bum clean it can keep the potty clean.

When DS used the potty, we just rinsed it out after a pee and used a baby wipe to do a quick clean after he pooped. Then every weekend when I cleaned the bathroom, I would more thoroughly clean it. I'm so glad that he basically hated that thing and would rather use the toilet since there is less clean up involved.

Urine we dump and rinse. Poop we spray out with our diaper sprayer and then spray Biokleen Bac-Out in the bowl and rinse.

Pee: dump, rinse, dump
Poop: dump, rinse, dump, use a sponge to get what's left.

If it's convenient to leave a bit of water in it between uses then the poo won't stick as much and it will be easier to clean it after use.

pee we dump and then do water and dump (ds' job usually)

poop we dump and then wipe out with a baby wipe to get any residue. I figure if just wiping with a baby wipe is good enough for my kid's butt it's good enough for the potty!
