Connor's first trip away from mommy

Connor spent Thursday-Monday with my mom, a whole state away, camping. He knows my mom, he adores my mom, and my mom is the only other person in this world that I trust implicitly with my kids at any moment...yet I was nervous to send him away for a few days!! I even thought about going up there but staying at her house an hour away from the campsite in case he needed me

But it went GREAT!!!

He's almost home, I expect him back any minute literally. I've talked to my mom on the phone. She said he was an angel, had boat loads of fun, and single-handedly (haha, pun!) taught the whole campground a bunch of sign language

She said he played until he dropped, he followed every rule with zero reminders, he ate well, he slept well, he used his voice and his signs (and she understood both fairly well!), and he won the hearts of many people.

Part of me is so happy that he had such a great time, but I'm also a little sad that he did so well on his own.

Oh, and Ian went too...but this was Ian's 3rd year going, so it was "old hat" for him. He hung out with the "big kids" and got to go down to the river BY HIMSELF this year (with the big kids, but no adult!) which evidently he's awfully proud about!

So it was just mommy, daddy, and baby all weekend. It was NICE to have the baby to myself, but man I missed my big kids!!

It's hard to let them go, but nice to have a break!

That's awesome! I'm glad that everyone had a great time. And it is so hard to let them go. You want them to do well away from you, but there is something a little bittersweet knowing that they are getting independent enough to do it.
