Anyway, I am now taking yellowdock, iron pills, prenatal, and b6 and will have some b12 coming in to see if that whammy helps up my iron stores.
Thanks so much ladies for being here. I have lurked for some time and found great comfort in knowing people understand the challenges of ttc. At this point I could use some feedback and I hope I can get some shared wisdom on this issue.
So I have gotten all my testing for recurrent pregnancy loss. Everything normal. So now we're back to the same conclusion we walked in with. 43 year old eggs!
The RE gave us the options of going gonadotropins with IUI or same meds with IVF.
At first we wanted to go straight to IVF because we wanted to do preimplantation genetic testing. Turns out the over 40 patients can't do it in the US because the embryos have to be implanted ASAP. Embryos of older women won't survive 5 days in a petri dish awaiting results. In Europe they will try, but not here.
Soooo, given that and the fact that, at 43, the stats for success after 2 rounds of IUI are the same as for IVF, we're thinking maybe IUI now.
But with IUI and injectables what scares the crap out of me is having a litter of kids. They promised every other day ultrasounds and blood draws to monitor dosage and egg number. But still, it's a real issue.
Given that fear, DH and I have been talking about doing a step down, such as letrozole, for one round just to see if my body can spit out multiple eggs (but not 10- 20+). We did low dose letrozole when I was 40. I had 4 eggs and got Baby A on first try. But even though my labs haven't changed in 3 years, having had multiple spontaneous pregnancies with losses shows that things HAVE changed.
Any ideas , suggestions, cautionary tales, etc....?
BTW Someone in another thread posted about some vitamins they were using that they got from here...long story short, the prenatals I use are half the price that I normally pay. I just bought another flippin' bottle too!
