Nursing at the table

My father and his girlfriend visited recently... We were eating dinner the first night and ds who is 3.5 mo. was fussing so I grabbed my nursing pillow and started nursing him while we ate. Dad's gf was shocked! It was hysterical, my father just looked at her and said, the kid deserves to eat too! I was so proud of him for that response and my nursing anywhere was never mentioned by her again.

My DH while very happy I breastfeed gets weireded out and really self cautious if I need to nurse in public.. I've tried to kinda meet him part way on that but of couse also let him understand that baby needs to be fed she will be and I wont be banned to bathrooms to do it...
BUT he also thinks in OUR own home its OUR home and our LO will be BF as needed how I need it. SO if that means a boppy at the dining table so be it.. I'm soo glad hes supportive of this but it still totally puzzles me how hes SOOO weirded out by say a stranger that may or maynot get a sideways glance and a tiny sliver of flesh when I BF in public with a cover (my prefrence and DH compromise) but hes fine with people we see often sitting with in a foot of me nursing with no cover seeing pretty much everything...

you dad is awesome! can i borrow him to teach DH a few things? i am sure DH will be fine, but i am a little worried in might be on my own in some situations

He is an odd man, some things get his back up but because he was bf'd he thinks it is the way to do things. He actually framed a great pic of him being nursed while his mom sips a glass of wine and has a cigarette burning in the ashtray in front of her! It was the 50's...
