Congratulations on the job! woot!AmandaHope
I tried doing the BBT for a few months way before we even started inseminating, and it drove me BONKERS. I have no idea how you ladies keep up with it. I rely on OPKs and some ultrasounds, which have shown the OPKs to be correct for me. (I know some women never get a positive on the OPK.) This past cycle was so uber-monitored, it felt weird not ever testing. I hope you got your O right... in the same breath, for your NEXT baby ('cause this one will take!!), I recommend being under the care of a talented physician. There's already so much for you to stress about. Also - congratulations on the house! Also - am I the only one who is paying for all of this mess out of pocket? Our insurance isn't helping AT ALL.saracecile
I admire your self-awareness at figuring out when to throw in the towel - but let me just say, my sisters are significantly younger than me (8 and 10 yrs younger) and we have always been close despite the age difference. Don't let the age difference be your only deciding factor! LibraryLady
Sorry about your old car but WAY TO GO on the new one! You know what, we work hard, we deserve to have a fun car! I bought a compact SUV 2 yrs ago thinking we'd have a baby way before the lease was up. Um, the lease is up next March. Hmm.coco
Aw, a V-day baby! I love it!
Try not to stress - the best thing for you and your partner is to chill baby chill! I know it's hard... deep breaths.seraf
I can be officially moved to the two-week-wait!AFM
We inseminated this morning with a good sperm count and a "very deep insemination," the deepest yet, our NP assures. I was freaking out earlier in the week that all of my EWCM had dried up - nope, turns out it was just hiding. It was crazy yesterday and our NP said it's the most she's seen on me today. Thanks, injectibles and extra estrogen! Unexpectedly, our NP asked us to come back a week from Tuesday for blood work. She doesn't want me to have to stay on progesterone longer than necessary. I can't get out of work on Tuesday so we're going in on Wednesday (6/23) for an HCG test. That gives us the result on Thursday, which is only 1 day earlier, but she did say she's interested to see the numbers. I'm already FREAKING OUT - but still feeling confident. Come on egg & sperm, do what you were made to do! The wife mentioned something offhand that if this one doesn't work, we might have to sit out a few months because of the cost of everything. Oy. Pleaseohpleaseohplease...... On selective reduction:
This is a really tough subject. I am vehemently pro-choice but anti-abortion... I think women should have the right to choose, but I really wish there were other alternatives to abortion. We were faced with this this cycle because of the doctor's goal to get 4-5 follicles. (We only got one, so we don't have to worry...) I did some research, and it seems like most of the time, even if you have 4-5 eggs (or however many), your body won't even allow you to carry more than 2 or 3. MOST of the time. 7 is definitely a lot, but it would be so hard to cancel a cycle for me. I don't know - I understand where that wannabe mama is coming from...and yes, I would do selective reduction, probably for anything over 2. This is not because of money, it's because the risks are so much higher over 2 to mom AND babies. Ugh - I just hope I'm never faced with it, because it would be terrible to have to reduce.
On a lighter note - I hope everyone has a great weekend!
