Hey All!

So it's June, more bills, more electric for the a/c, how are you doing?

We had to barrow money from my MIL :cry to pay the mortgage
The taxes are indeed being audited.
My husband STILL has not found a job (no unemployment since April too).

But the Garden is starting to produce!
I'm finally finished negotiating a fall contract
I have a new big kid starting this week for my son to play with.
My oldest turns 6! this month, wow! I'm so impressed by him every day.

I have not posted here before but I am a serious lurker. My dh is on unemployment and I just cut back on my hours due to being HUGELY pregnant. We are fortunate to have a very low cost of living, but still live from one unemployment paycheck to the next and it is so tight that the smallest thing sets us back. We are currently a month behind. I have one more semester of nursing school left and have student loans way beyond my tuition, and that helps us survive the school year That is really our only debt, but when it comes due . Hopefully I will be able to get a job right away. I am really worn out by the stress of poverty. I am tired of looking around and feeling as though everyone else has somehow manage to have their finances together and I failed, myself, my kids...on one hand I would still be living frugally as it is my nature to conserve, but I would love for every purchase to not be a debate. I would love to have the spontaneity that money in the bank could bring. For simple things like ice cream for the family...and not having to measure every cent to such specifics. Blah! I think its even more frustrating because we do not have a large amount of bills each month, no extras except internet which I just negotiated a great deal on for the next year. So sometimes I look at our budget and say there is no excuse for us not getting ahead, but we have not been able to yet.

On the positive side:

Huge garden!
Help with getting CD!
Healthy Kids!

Hi everyone. I'm at an all-time income low. I'm divorcing my stbxh who is an alcoholic and hasn't worked in nearly 3 years. I have a home business that I'm now running by myself (I did most of it myself anyway) but it is only supporting itself right now so I'm working for peanuts. I'm looking for part-time outside work. I'm now on food stamps and going to find a food pantry. I've applied for public assistance.

Good thing is that my electric bill has been cut nearly in half since my stbx left. He was very careless and I'm very frugal when it comes to electricity.

Well, I'm glad that it's not winter right now that's for sure!

I can get pretty sad being this poor. I also wish that I could just buy something for my kids, just a new summer dress for each of my little girls, but I can't. It won't always be this way, though. Better days will come

I thought I'd have DS2 out of diapers this week, but apparently he missed the memo. Now I'm off to go throw more $ I don't have on stupid diapers for a 3 1/2 year old. Happy June to me!

This month has started out horrible. Went to pay my car payment to find my car was about to break down so I didn't pay the car payment and instead went to find out what was wrong with the car. Spent 200.00 on parts and now on Tuesday get to spend 85.00 on labor for someone to change the plugs because noone else could get to them.My aunt is the co-signer on our car so she normally calls as soon as it is late but she didn't this time! AMAZING she hasn't called or mentioned it and she is insanely annoying so I know she would have called. Unless she covered the payment herself I am not sure (she sometimes is sweet and knows we have it rough so I could MAYBE see her covering it 1 time). Who knows. Anyways, today is payday it all is spent.

Pros:
We have a huge garden
My husband has worked so much overtime we can pay everything!
We have food etc

Cons:
Can't find any right now besides our tv broke and hubby is dying without it it seems!

I'm a serious lurker here as well. I usually avoid posting because well, it would just be negative all the time

But.... guess what? Not today!

I am crying as I write this. I just got approved for cloth diapers for my 23 month ds and my little bean due in 8 weeks! (If any of you want to use cloth diapers but cant because of the initial start up costs and all, check out this website... they are amazing!!! http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=749487 )

So, now I do not have to worry about diapers (soon anyways) for not only one child, but soon to be 2!

Also, last night I commented on my friend's facebook picture of her and her son in the ergo carrier... and they sent me a message saying they know how things have been, and they are buying me one for the baby

I am just crying as this couldn't have come at a better time.

We are way below the poverty line, I am having a baby in about 8 weeks or so, and I have nothing. DH was laid off for over a year with no unemployment, and my job didnt' pay much. We are five months behind in rent (Obviously we have an amazing landlord!!) and we are not even "getting by" right now.

DH re-enlisted in the military, and he leaves 2 weeks before I am due. So, the light at the end of our tunnel is there, but not without much sacrificing and heartache in the meantime!

Anyways, I thought I would finally post here, because well... no one else would really understand

Here's to hoping June gets better for all of us!

Oh, and averysmomma05 do you and your husband know about hulu!?! You can watch tv online from there, and it's free! We find that helps us with the no tv issue sometimes

Yes, I have watched Hulu before but I actually don't watch tv so it is no big deal for me. Him on the other hand he doesn't get online. So we got him a tiny 13 inch tv for 10.00 and he so far is fine LOL

Congrats btw!!

I have been up all night SO sick! Been vomiting since 12am and I can't keep a thing down. hubby is leaving for work so I am alone with our 2 girls and I seriously just want to cry right now.

Regarding tv, maybe Netflix has free trials? That could be useful for someone for a month, it's something that would be fun!

I wish I could help you!!!
Hubby came home early but I had been throwing up for about 12 hrs and headache, fever, not really able to move so I think it is another kidney infection (I was in the hospital for a week with it for same signs) waiting on the babysitter come so I can go to the hospital and hope they find out what is wrong.

I am mostly a lurker as well, but wanted to chime in along with you all. We are still struggling from my dh being fired in April. It's tough to come up with two months of rent in one month!!

Plus, dh's car is broke down, so we are now down to just the Suburban. He has to drive it back and forth to work, which is an extra $420 in gas each month!! So, we are looking at another move....which I hate.

Anyhoo, I just wanted to reiterate that you all are NOT alone!

Blessings,

Rebecca

WTF!!!!!!!
Is June the month of cars breaking down?!?!
I popped my the front tire on my car in the driveway yesterday on my way to work, and discovered this morning that none of the Tire stores in Connecticut are open on Sunday. SIGH
So, now I have to rely on my wonderful next door neighbor to give me a ride yesterday & today!
Sigh...

Well. I have some great news, some good news, and some kinda bad news.

The great news is that my ex-boyfriend and I started talking again (which DH is totally OK with) and when he saw how terrible my car was he has started fixing it for me, for VERY Cheap (like $10 for parts he paid $70 bucks for yesterday and no labor charges). He's fixed my brakes and wheel bearings so far, we have like one more thing to fix and then we're good to go.

The good news is that we got $1000 that caught us up on rent, electricity and most of internet.

The bad news is we took out a lien to do it because there was NO other way to find the money.

Bad news...we need to come up with May and June's rent ASAP. I am so worried. I'm considering the pay day loan thing, even though I know those are terrible. I just see that damn commercial with Montel asking if I could use an extra $1000 and I think of how it could fix everything... I just can't keep up with everything.

Bad but not surprising news...my ex-h said he's finally send some money to me last week, but of course it never showed up. He paid MAYBE $600 in child support from January through August of last year and I haven't received anything since. I've been waiting on a court date for the divorce and child support order and everything since FEBRUARY 5TH when I filed, and...nothing. Filed for an emergency hearing several weeks ago...nothing. Way to fail me, court system. So, there's no way to really enforce what he should be paying. I was told when I applied for food stamps that I had to give them his info and they'd go after him for child support aaaaand...nothing, again. His parents, who were totally up in our business/relationship during our whole marriage, did the "Don't put us in the middle!" thing when I asked why they're not making him support his child. They hold his hand for everything else, why not that too? I'm sure it is obvious that this pisses me off...it just isn't fair that I'm busting my butt and barely getting by and he's living bill-free, responsibility-free in his parents' big, nice brand new house. Not that I'd ever want to live with my mom again, but you know what I mean...

Good news...I came home yesterday to a three month supply of my medication free from the drug company. My other medication is $40 a month which isn't ideal but I can stretch things and make it work because well, I have to.

Good news...we are healthy, food stamp $ comes on Friday and we have enough food to last until then, and I'm working on several projects that will hopefully increase our income and then become my full time job eventually.

I guess it's time I post here. We are barely making ends meet, I had to ask my dad to loan us 250 bucks this month since we had to pay the oil bill, and that made me short on the mortgage. I am sick of robbing peter to pay paul. I have cut my bills as much as I possibly comfortably can, and we are still short at the end of the month.

I am going in tomorrow to apply for food stamps, but I don't know if we will be approved, i am very nervous about it, I am worried we might make JUST over the amount allowed, I mean by less than 100 a month, and if it wasn't for the fact that DH gets overtime we would be way below. But the thing is overtime can be taken away at anytime, and it has been drastically cut as it is, he's making 300 a month less than he was a year ago this time...

Anyway I thought I would say hello

(((HUGS))) to you all! I feel the same pressure and frustration with finances. My dh and I have been married for 17 years, now. I really thought that by now, we'd be a little more stable. But we're still in this place of constantly struggling.

I just wanted to send you all great big (((HUGS)))!! Hang in there!!!
