Divorce update

Just wanted to let you mamas know that as of yesterday, I'm divorced It will be finalized in 31 days, after the appeals delay passes, and I should receive my divorce certificate in 30 days after that.

My day in court was very nerve-wracking (late lawyer, lost casefile, having to testify), but in the end, I was granted an early divorce, a mere 8 months after I separated from XH, due to allegations of mental cruelty. I was also given all discretion on visitation and child support was granted (though I don't believe I'll obtain anything since I heard from two different sources that XH may have left or lost his job).

Had I known that custody and divorce would be so "easy" to obtain, I think I would have left XH a long time ago.

Now I get to plan a divorce party

sure, he may work again, but I assume that he'll move to another province which would make obtaining child support a bit more difficult. It's not my problem though; there's an agency here responsible for going after delinquent parents.
