Hula hooping. I've noticed a lot of stuff out there in internet-land about it the past year or so, "hoop dancing" instructional DVD's and classes and such. The other day I finally sat down and watched some of the hoop dance youtube videos, and it looks like SO much fun. I really need to do something to get back in shape after DS, and DD and I had a blast all day yesterday doing this.

But it turns out that the cheapie hoops I had bought for us are too small for total beginners like us, and are also reaaaally easy for my nephew to bend and break . Soooo... I rationalized that the money I will make today working a shift that I had no idea I was scheduled for until yesterday morning, could go toward buying us some better quality ones- since it's money that I didn't know I would be making.

(It's embarrassing, admitting to my rationalizing on a "no-spend" thread, but there it is... )

But then I went to Fred Meyer and decided I needed some Burt's Bees toothpaste (coupon, though, lol) and a bar of Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap in addition to the few items I went for. I can live with it. Walked for an hour today!
8- TWO unplanned spends, ugh! DH had to go to the ER and we were famished so we had to get food. I also bought a scale for the bathroom. Would have done it in the next couple months but it wasn't planned for this month.

Ugh, can I get a do-over for the last week? We left for a visit to the ILs on Saturday the 19th and came back last night. The budget was blown out of the water MANY times over

I now can't wait for July to start so I can wipe the slate clean and s-q-u-e-e-z-e the budget as much a possible to make up for the spend-fest we just had.

14/20 No Spend
$160 Frivolous Spending
Getting some good produce out of my weedy garden this week- just need to go to the store and buy some tofu, and then I'll have all the ingredients for a yummy, almost no-spend stir-fry!

Now the question is- can I get out of the grocery store for less than $47 and stay within my grocery budget for June? We only need 3 or 4 things, so there's no excuse for me going over.

1- $$$ Homeschool materials for next year, $35 baby shower gift
2-
3-
4- $3 lunch at work
5-
6- $19 CVS ($6 stationary, $13 diapers, food)
7- $81 groceries, $39 gasoline
8-
9-
10- (finished DS baby book finally!)
11- $42 groceries, $5 kid toys at yard sale $1 library fine, $10 fast food lunch (mended my shorts!)
12- $102 groceries, $50 babysitting payment/gift for my mama
13- $12 lunch out, $39 walmart- household (toiletries, batteries etc)
14-
15-

16-
17-
18-
19- $3 cafeteria lunch at work
20- $142 groceries, $40 gasoline
21-
22- $34 groceries, household
23- $62 textbook for work, $52 hoops for me and DD (finished painting DS's freebie dresser!)

24-
25-
26- $2 breakfast at work
27- $2 breakfast at work
28-
29

Groceries/ household: $453 / $500
Kid clothing and items: $35 / $50 (planning to hit up the yard sales)
Me spending $105 / $40
Gasoline $79 / $120
Gifts $85 / $50
Unplanned spending $27
No spend days- 15 / 15

I really hope there will be a July thread! I just found this yesterday and I think this is just the motivation/accountablility I need to stick with our no spend plan to get out of debt

Adjusted the grocery budget up to $600; while I am working $500 is just not cutting it. Even at $600, overshot a bit, though only by $2.58 at this point. Luckily just managed to sneak in 24 as of yesterday; thinking about heading downstairs momentarily + bringing the monkeys for ice cream, so will lose a for today.

Have spent much of this month vacillating between leaving my job (which I like, but in the fall w/ DH back in school + working FT, the schedule (for our homeschooled kiddos) is beyond wacky). After an inordinate amount of time pondering all of the options, poring over the budget, and creating a sample schedule for the fall, think I am comfortable with my decision. Will ask my Board (I run a small nonprofit 32 hrs/wk) for a more flexible schedule starting in September, which will result in a need for just 6 hrs/wk of childcare. I am hopeful they agree, but also confident we will figure this out regardless.

Looking forward to seeing all of you in July!

June 1: $18.98 (special surgery pj's for our little monkey (tonsils))
June 2:
June 3: $35.50 (playmobil bribery to get DS to take fluids + doll house living room set for DD)
June 4:

OK, I was a total loser this month and didn't stick to budget at all, but at least I'm keeping track again, so I guess that's progress... I did at least use coupons again on today's grocery trip, so yay there.
