Wow so here we are into June and our LO's will be 7 months this month. Luke will be in a couple days! It's amazing! Has anyone else noticed personality changes going into this month? Luke seems to be much more determined (I guess that's the best word for it) He just seems to get more fussy when he can't turn his body 360 degrees He finally started saying Dada which DH is thrilled about b/c for forever it was only Mama and even then it's not like he's saying it to us it's more babble but it's still nice to hear.

A couple questions - DH said that he thinks Luke is taking so long to get his teeth b/c of all the muscle he has and therefore the teeth have more to work through - I've never heard that before. He IS a very strong baby and does have a good amount of muscle but I didn't know if this could be right or not, thoughts anyone?

Also, I've noticed that when I post and use smilies that sometimes certain smilies are there and sometimes they're not - does anyone know why that is?

Alright well I'm off to clean the house, I have a play-date here tmw and the house, as usual, is a mess TTFN!

There isn't any muscle in the gums for teeth to work through, so I don't get that comment but hey, it means that you don't have to worry about biting just yet!

Gabe has his first tooth just barely poking through. he only bites my finger - so far -
He is sitting well by himself. not crawling, but it won't be long. He is up to nearly 16 lbs so far.

for those mamas with babies who have teeth, are little bumps in the inside of his lip normal? I think so, but wondered.

he has 3 weeks until he's 7 months. I fully expect he'll be crawling, or at least on all fours by then. but he may prove me wrong!

Jewels, to answer you from our last board, we have a mom & baby amber set from Amber Artesians, and I love it. Its very well made and sturdy. Xavi yanks on mine all the time and its really holding up.

Nursing is WAY WAY BETTER YAY!!!!

I followed the advice of my local LLL leader, and I pressed his face gently into my breast when he bit me, and it only took a few times for him to stop, thank goodness! That little tooth is SO sharp, yikes!

Xavis is army crawling, and sitting unassisted for pretty long time periods We had our 6 mo WBV last week, and he is 22 Ibs 7 oz, and 29 inches.

Not a whole lot of vocalizing going on though. His ped kind of seemed to think he was a little behind on that. He makes plenty of noise, but not a lot of different noises, and he doesnt mimic us. I went to the library and checked out a bunch of books, I'm making it a goal for us to read more.

ITA his personality is really developing now!!! He seems to be a very determined, 'I can do it by myself' kind of kid so far! He doesnt seem to like help doing things with his toys or food, he wants to do it himself even if it takes longer or is harder. Its pretty funny.

His hair is FINALLY growing back in. He did have a thick head of auburn curls, and then he was almost bald, and now he is getting a head full of straight blonde hair!! The blonde is kind of a suprise to us, but it is super cute. I never thought we would have a little blondie He still has some patches of auburn through the blonde too haha. Its mostly blonde on the sides/back, and he has like a curly auburn mohawk up top. Baby hair is so strange! His eyebrows and eyelashes are still a dark auburn, which I think is pretty cool (he gets that from me ) And his eyes are still blue, we cant tell if they are just blue because he is a baby, or if they are going to stay blue, which would also be unexpected! He is just too adorable for words. Sometimes I just STARE at him because I cant believe how adorable he is

Xavismom, so glad you got the biting sorted!

Gabe's hair is coming in a bit blond, but dark-ish and fine, like mine and my dad's. His eyes are still blue, but I am seeing a little green around the pupils. I am half-hoping they turn green like mine! He looks so much like DH I rejoice in the little bits of me that poke up.

Personality wise, he is just focused, doesn't really get super upset or frustrated, you can just see him concentrating and trying to figure stuff out. (except for the crawling bit, he is majorly frustrated by that at the moment)

he has been a bit clingy today, because the last 3 days he has been in arms alot and hasn't had much independent play time. I don't mind, but would like to get some housework done (haven't done a back carry yet, need to try that out)

Zion has her top 4 teeth coming in now- the middle two are just poking through and the ones next to that are coming down towards the gumline. She turned 6 months on the 22nd.

She is sitting up for long periods of time, which I love. She is nowhere ner crawling- hates being on tummy except to sleep.

Zi is babbling up a storm and I love it so much! She truly is a ray of sunshine in our lives- she is happy 98% of the time!

My 3 yr old son loves her, is a huge help and makes her laugh like no one else can. I look forward to a long sweet fruitful relationship between them.

She is about 16 lbs- have yet to have a well baby visit.

4 teeth!! WOW that is a lot! I bet it looks so adorable!!

I also love hearing how siblings are interacting with the new LOs I think I really, probably want another baby, so its nice to hear!! I cant imagine how it makes your heart feel to see your older child loving your youngest, it must be amazing.

Sometimes I wonder why we bother at all with the WBV since we dont vax, and I just do what I feel is best with Xavi regardless of what the Ped says. Is that why you dont take Zion? When we go, they weigh him, measure him, ask me if I have any questions and then we leave, its kind of pointless.

I so hear you on this one!! Feature wise, Xavi seems like he is going to look exactly like his daddy. At first when we thought he was going to have auburn hair, I was secretly excited that at least ONE thing he was getting from me, but then it fell out!! I have green eyes too, so now I am secretly hoping they turn green... Who knows though!! I have dark auburn hair, and my DH is part Japanese with thick coarse dark hair, and Xavi is now a little blondie, so it just goes to show you never know what will turn up!! DH is hoping his eyes will go brown, we'll wait and see!

Do it! It helps SO much. Xavi likes to be held/carried about 95% of the time he is awake. This has totally helped us out. The only time I ever really get to put him down is when he is napping. Thankfully he has no problems napping by himself!!!

It is when the top teeth come in I think I'll have to worry about biting. so far, so good!

Gabe is also just about 16 lbs. we have an infant scale at home, so I keep up with it that way. Our last WBV was at 4 months. We don't Vax either, so the visits go pretty much like you said. at the 4 month visit they either forgot or decided we didn't need a 6 month WBV. we saw his ped while eating pizza the other evening and had a nice chat. He's a good guy and we like him, but haven't needed to use them for anything.

I wonder if he has another tooth about to pop up, last night he was nearly inconsolable. Had to break out the paci I haven't given him (because he hasn't wanted it) in nearly a month, and the teething tablets. combo worked like a charm and he slept! He is back to his usual happy self.

Funny thing is, the rare times he is like that - totally screaming mad/upset - I think "who are you and what have you done with my happy baby?"

I have been home over 2 weeks now, between vacation and WAH. I am actually looking forward to going in the office next week. I know that doesn't make me a bad mama, but sometimes . . . a mama needs a little break! I will miss him like crazy . . . but! anyway.

Xavian will be a cutie no matter what, what a combination of heritages to pull from. His blond hair may go dark later, or turn more of a strawberry blond. DH was blond as a child and is dark now.

DH thinks I'm nuts, but I'm trying to figure out DS's 1st birthday party already . . .
We figured what our baby looked like would be a complete suprise, as I am Scot/Dutch and my DH is Italian/Japanese, the only thing we were reasonably sure of is that he would be very tall bc we both are, and he is definately looking to be a pretty big kid!!

The last week before Xavis tooth popped up, was awfull too. Try making him a 'momcicle'! It worked great for us. Pour some BM in a small cap (like a bottle cap or something) and stick a pacifier upside down into the milk and freeze. It makes a little BM popcicle with the paci handle.

I dont think you are nuts for planning a party!

We just got on Medicaid- my son (3 yrs) has never been to a well baby/child visit either, but Medicaid wants us to do them so I guess we might though I kind of think they are a waste if you don't vax or have any concerns...

That is a cool idea!

Yeah Katrina I didn't think their was muscle there either, who knows? But it would be interesting to find out why babies get teeth at different ages. I totally hear you on how your LO looks just like your DH - that's exactly how it's been here until recently and it looks like he will get my blue eyes, DH has green so I wasn't sure for a while if they were going to go green or not. Don't they say that they finally get their finally color between 6-12 months?

Yay XavisMom for the nursing going better! That's great! Lol, I totally know what you mean about starring at your LO - I do all the time, partially b/c I'm still getting over that he belongs to me and like you said b/c they're so darn cute!

We also haven't had a WBV yet - we don't plan on it, just trips to the chiropractor when need be. We're also not vaccinating so we just weigh DS at home.

I hear you guys on the teething - DS has been hurting pretty bad as well and still no teeth yet. DH is kind of skeptical about the amber necklace and also doesn't want his son wearing jewelry so we still haven't gotten it yet but I think I've almost got him convinced just b/c DS sleeping has been really bad lately - he's up every 2 hours crying still and it's been over a month of this - I really think it's the teething so I'm hoping we can get the necklace soon b/c the hylands aren't cuttin' it Well gotta run, have a great weekend everyone!

The teething necklaces are so darn cute on a baby! We had one with DS1 but didn't really notice any difference in the cranky nights.

DS2 has the sweetest strawberry blond hair, I just can't get enough of it. He's wearing onesies that DS1 wore at 18 months-2 years. I think he may be a linebacker one day! We had him weighed a few weeks ago and he was 20.5lbs. He has the fattest bum ever, love it.

No teeth yet, but lots of gums dragging over my nipple. Ouch! Anything he gets his hands on goes straight into his mouth. We aren't sure if it's just mouthing (exploring) or teething. Probably a combination of both.

I've been wearing him a bit more. I'd had a sore back for a while. I have just bitten the bullet and realized that his baby days are numbered, so I'm getting the wearing in while I can.

He's sitting up lots. Doesn't like tummy time at all and has no interest in crawling yet. I'm amazed at the babies here who are! They are all so different.

It's fun to read everyone's updates!

It is funny, before he could sit up, DS actually enjoyed tummy time. Now that he can sit, it is all he wants to do, he gets super mad on his belly (which is a good way to get him to try to move! LOL)

I have been wearing DS more also, but I think more because he has been fussier and needing it more.

Our little man had the first tooth pop through this week and soon to be followed by another. He was so fussy and drooly for SO long I had convinced myself he wasn't really teething but sure enough there it was! He has strawberry blonde hair too, it actually looks red on top with some blonde underneath, too cute. And he's up on knees and rocking like crazy, and doing some short little crawling backwards so I think very shortly we are going to be in trouble Lots of babbling too, "da da" "ma ma" "ab ba" "ah ga".

He had his 6 month checkup last week and he was 18 lbs 5 ounces and 29 inches long. I think he's going to take after both of his uncles and be tall. Oh and I really liked our pediatrician up until he recommended I start giving him juice. Uh, no.

Oh I've also been planning his first bday I contemplated when I could set the event up on facebook without it being ridiculously early. The problem is his cousin's birthday is the day before his and DH's family wants to throw them joint bday parties. That's fine in the future but for his first birthday I want him to have his own party and I want to do it myself so my family can be there too.

Well Glenn hasn't been to a WBV since he was 2 or 4 months we are delaying some vax's my ped is not fussy about well anything he thinks less is more.....

Glenn LOVES LOVES LOVES his big brother as another mama said no one can make him laugh like his brother and his big brother LOVES LOVES LOVES LOVES him he has to cuddle him every morning and night he is so amazing with him it melts my heart ! Glenn also is amazed by the kitties ohh my they get chased by him and his little army crawl lol he is into everything but he is so calm and sweet! he fusses a little when you take things away but he gets distracted easily I also have been wearing him a lot more but that is because the weather is warming up now he loves it he fell asleep with me vacuuming the other day it was so sweet!

He has yet to have much solids a few purees, some rice puffs, a slice of avacado, and a few bites of watermelon.

We just love him to pieces!!!!! Ohhh and he actually uses our arms reach! it is great! I love that thing! Also nursing is wonderful
post #15 of 55
Loving all the positives in there!! the other mamas I am around IRL look at me a bit skeptically when I tell them I am in no hurry to wean DS, as they all used teeth as an excuse to wean their LO's at 6-10 months. I told them that he has to learn not to bite sometime, might as well start with mama. I love nursing him, and I will be sad whenever we wean.

I have given up on purees at the moment. I just let him have what food he can grab and stick in his mouth . . . like pizza crust LOL (I don't know if it makes it better or worse, but it was a homemade, brick oven, sort of crust) He loves ice cubes.

He isn't crawling, but he tries so hard! and he was loving the big pool today, he even went under the water (I was holding him) and he came up grinning.

Looking forward to a summer full of fun in the sun . . and water!

Hi November mamas! It's great to hear how everybody is doing, and how quickly our little ones are growing up.

I am sort of happy to hear about all of you who have not taken baby to the well visits. I haven't taken my girl to any doctor visits, since we don't vax, and the only non-vax ped is over an hour away from us. I figure, if she is not sick, then why should I take her to the doctors when she is well?

We had to go to the hospital a month ago. My 7 year old brought home a nasty cold from school, and Aries caught it. Her throat swelled, and her breathing was very raspy. We took her to the hospital, better safe than sorry. She was ok though, and we came home.

You would not believe how many times I had to report on her non-vax status, and the strange looks I got from the staff. It was like I was some creature from another planet or something. And everybody there was so shocked that she had not been to the doctor for a well visit, ever. I told them that she has never been sick, so I didn't want to take her to the doctor while she was well. I would only take her to the doc if she needed it, which was why we were at the hospital (duh!) They were amazed that a baby could survive without ever seeing a doctor. Imagine that!

We are still breastfeeding, and I love every minute of it. She is just the cutest little angel I have ever laid eyes on, and I love to just look at her cute little face. Aries is just perfect!
glad she is ok! I am sure we would have to do the same thing if DS were that ill. We have done well-visits and have a Ped on file, but he hasn't been since he was 4 months.

Can't believe he'll be 7 months next week! He is sitting really well, and lunging for things, but not crawling just yet. I think the carseat screaming is getting worse, not better. thankfully, he usually calms down after a minute or so.

I have stopped doing purees for now, he just blows raspberries the whole time! so it is pretty darn pointless.

I ordered him food for the first time this weekend! we were at TGIFridays, and we didn't really have anything suitable for him, to keep him busy while we ate, so I ordered him some carrot sticks. he mostly just played with them and gnawed on them a bit. but, hey, kept him busy and he liked it!

We are loving the nursing too! so many of my friends stopped at this age, using teeth as an excuse. DS hasn't bit me yet, and I think we could work through it if he did. I have no plans to stop anytime soon.

Hi November mamas!!!

Glad to see everyone is doing well. We are good here too! We FINALLY got two teeth last week and DD's mood is much better now. But, the sleep situation is still the same. She wants to suck on me all night long. Are there other mamas whose babies do the same thing? We put her in the crib when she first falls aslle at around 8ish and then some time at night she gets up and we let her stay in bed with us... which means she is sucking on me for hours. I feel a little worn out.

We also started solids this past week. And, by that I mean we are giving her a little avocado and she seems to like it a lot... and it seems that she is digesting well. I think we're going to try sweet potato next or maybe squash.

I'm a little worried about two things: her language development doesn't seem to be fantastic... and she is nowhere near crawling. As for language development, she says a couple of things "bababa" and "dadada" but it's not really intentional. She is in a bilingual home so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. And as for crawling... we put her on her tummy but it's like she has no idea what she's supposed to do, so she just sits there. I'm worried about her skipping the crawling stage.. don't want that to happen!

Other than that, things are great. I'm enjoying this stage a lot more than the newborn stage. She is vomiting less, so that's always good We spend our days together and I feel like I am dwelling in felicity

Hope you all are doing fantastically
As far as the language thing, it might depend on the two languages. for example, I find the rhythms of English, Spanish, and Japanese to be not too dissimiliar, where as French, Chinese, German and Russian are very different. If the two languages are very dissimiliar, maybe that is confusing? But I don't know that they should be saying anything intentional yet. DS has said mama and mommy a couple times, and I think it is bordering on intentional, most of the time, it is when he is upset. Otherwise he isn't really chattering, he does giggle and screech alot, and blow raspberries. I figure he will start chattering again when the screeching and raspberries get old.

as for tummy time, honestly, there isn't a whole lot they can do on their bellies, other than rock and push up and try to reach for things. Most of what I have read seems to indicate they will learn to crawl from sitting and leaning forward to grab an object. but surely all babies will approach this differently.

I have started trying to teach him how to wave, I think he is starting to get it. He has been moving his hands alot, and raises his arms for "up" I don't know that I intend to do full on baby signing, but will try to incorporate what seems natural for us.

I felt like this with DS1. What I ended up doing was carefully swapping out my nipple for a soother. I could do this while he slept and it didn't disturb him. Sometimes the soother would fall out...we'd find it and pop it back in. Eventually he got so that he could find it himself and grab it. I know not everyone loves a soother, but it serves a purpose sometimes...to get you your space back! We used it sparingly with him (naptime, bedtime and carseat) and he gave it up himself at around 18 months.

ETA: I read through all my little notes that came with the beads in the Nov 09 bead swap...and got a little teary eyed! It was lovely being pregnant with some of you!
