3rd UP/UC..... I'm BAAACK

i haven't been on the boards in FOREVER but now that I'm pregnant again, I feel the need to come back "home" MDC is always such a big part of my pregnancy! I'm excited to follow the stories of all of you and I had a question for people with multiple UC's .......

did you have different people attend your births? The past two births have just been my husband and I, but now that we have two little ones, I wonder if it's a good idea to invite someone else in to our birth circle.... I just wanted to hear how everyone's births were and if you ever switched it up as far as people in attendance? I'm not so sure how I would feel about someone else in my birth space - I'm SUPER private but for some reason I'm drawn to having someone else here with us this time just in case we need an extra set of eyes or hands.

Congratulations!

I too, am very private, but with a LO who will be about 20 mos. old, I am also considering inviting my mom for an extra set of hands.

Hi! Where in SC are you? I'm also worried about the little ones. My sil was at the last birth and we wanted her there to keep an eye on the kids. Well she stayed with us and tried to tell me what to do! So I feel like I can't ask family members over.

I'm not pregnant yet, but planning on having another child and I'm wondering whether or not I should have attendants or anyone else at my next birth as well. I had a UC the first time around and while it went well, I did have some complications (handled them myself) which made me wonder how we would handle my daughter at a second birth if we needed a transfer or anything like that. I'd like to have someone there that can take charge of my daughter if we need to transfer.

I had prenatal care with two lay midwives who were totally hands-off and 110% supportive of my UC, so I think I'd like to have one of them there with me. She is also a doula and she loves kids, so it would be nice to have her there to take care of me in case of a needed transfer and then my husband can handle my daughter.

I'm really not sure at this point, but I still have LOTS of time to think about it.

thanks for the input... i still have a while to figure it all out. We currently live in Alabama but we used to live in Charleston, South Carolina. We don't really have friends or family close by so I'm really not even sure who we could use. Hopefully it'll happen at night like last time while the little one's are asleep

I'm having my best female friend come to be my "midwife" while my DP will be taking care of my DS (if DS starts getting in the way or doesn't want to watch)...my DP is an epileptic, and while he controls his seizures with meds, the last thing I need is for him to have a seizure while I'm giving birth. So that's why I've decided not to have him be my helper.
