Odd behaviors in Cat? Plus kittens...

I have this cat, it stays outside. It's odd in my opinion, shy at first sometimes, but likes a lot of attention and petting, and it purrs constantly when I'm around doing this. it seems like it has some type of attention thing...I know cats like petting and purr, but she seems to take it to a whole new level.

But what worries me is that she seems to try to eat my toes and fingers, especially my pinky. I was thinking my pinky may remind her of her mothers nipples or something, but she can get a a bit aggressive, and I stop her before I see how far she'll take it. She was licking my toes a few moments ago, and then started to bite at my big toe. And then when I tried to move her away she focused on my fingers, she'll use her paws and claws to try to get a hold of my hands.

She just had kittens, and they just turned a month old. But she was doing this before she had kittens. Today she let me near them =] But I do wonder if there's anything wrong with her. I'll have to wear shoes around her, and maybe glove my hands? But then I'm worried she'll go for my face.

Also as a side note, when is it usually safe to give kittens away? I'm thinking of waiting 3 months, when they don't necessarily need their mother's milk (is 3 months safe?), and can eat on their own. I've usually given away kittens when they were quite big, but it made it really hard to do. When can I introduce food to them? She only has two btw.

A needy cat is usually caused by one who lost her mama early. It is also a personality thing. She may or may not really hurt you with her bids for attention so all you can do is be on guard.

For the kittens they need to be at least 8 weeks old before homing them and make sure that you pet them as much as possible so that they learn human = good thing or they wont make good pets later on.

You can start giving them food now. Make a nice easy to eat and digest meal like lightly cooked egg mixed with wet cat food or better yet raw hamburger. My personal favorite was gravy made with flour and water with egg and meat mixed in. They wont eat much but I bet you will be surprised how fast they jump right in. I always loved seeing kittens eat a first meal it is funny to watch.

Thank you so much. I believe she may be a year old, maybe a little more. And I think she did lose her mama early I'll miss that cat, she was very nice, and had the most amazing eyes. I used to give the older cats egg yolk, would that be ok? I'll try some of your suggestions.

Today I got to hold one of the kittens! So it may be awhile for them to get used to me.

Egg yolk is fine. I always did lightly cooked because of the salmanila risk but not sure how important that is. Just what I felt comfy with. Good luck with finding them homes.
