"Put a little breastmilk in it"

Well DS has yellow-green pus accummulating from the corners of both of his eyes. I've heard that breastmilk can be used in eye infections- any truth to this? Anyone had success doing this?

He has a tiny bit of green sticky boogers too, so I think it's just a minor bacterial infection, no fever, no cough...

Any suggestions?

Yup, try it!

Yep, breastmilk in the eye cured the same thing in my then 4 year old a couple years ago, as well as a sty I had in my own eye last year.

We had GREAT success! Very rapid improvement.

I've squirted it in the eyes and the ears to clear up infections. It's amazing!

I have even used it on dh's eyes when he would burn them at work from welding. It kept him out of the ER more times than I can count.

There are milk antibacterial properties to breastmilk. I wouldn't put it on a puncture wound or anything but it can be put in the eye

Yes! Put more than a little. Liberally douse the eyes every time you breastfeed your baby. Look at all the amazing things in breastmilk and what they do. Start in Table 3-2 and follow it to the next page http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=10935&page=47

I'd put it on a puncture wound while dh was calling 911, if it came up.

worked for us, also works for ear infections pretty well, just don't put too much or it will make them ache. also works great for red eye on adults

If you use frozen breastmilk, will it still work like this?

Good question. It might help soothe an irritated eye but I don't know how helpful it would be in combating pink eye.

I just came here to post the same exact thing! My 5 month old woke up with green gunk in both eyes, and I had just gotten over pinkeye last week. Thanks!!
