my tiny nearly 1 year old doesn't care for food much

My tiny nearly 1 year-old doesn't seem to care for food. She will take 4 bites of banana and then throw them around. She turns her face up at all sorts of food. I give her a variety of food in different sizes and textures. She's only 15 pounds 12 ounces. She has enough poopy and wet diapers.

Maybe she will just one day start eating. Her skin looks good and she's totally active.

I am assuming this is just a phase? She's had a HUGE variety of food offered to her.

We all come in different shapes and sizes... Maybe your lo is just petite. As long as she seems heathy and your mama instict says she is fine, I'm sure she is. Besides I don't think babes get too much nutrition from 'food' anyway in the first year or so. As long as she is still nursing, has wet and poopy diapers (like you said she has) then I'm sure it is just a phase. Ds has.no.interest in food at.all! I am away from him part time, and my mom tries giving him food when she knows he is hungry (he won't take a bottle...) and he still won't eat!!! He'll be 1 on Saturday and has probably no more than a teaspoon of yogurt and a bite of banana. I offer him all sorts of things but they all end up on the floor (apparently the dog does not eat fruits or vegetables). I'm just following his lead, although he by no means is small (26 lbs).... Your lo will eat when she's ready!

I know that here at MDC we like to promote finger foods etc. But some kids just don't like texture. My DS would try just about anything. He wasn't a big eater, but varied texture never bothered him. On the other hand my DD loved to eat, she wanted a lot once she began solids. But she wanted it pureed. Even green beans in the food mill were rejected. Put them in the blender and she would eat a whole bowl full and sign for more. :
