Alternative to store-bought yoghurt melts (freeze dried)

I'm looking for ideas/help

I try to give mostly "good" snacks to my 3 year old, but unfortunately he discovered the Gerber Yoghurt Melts a while back (thanks, Grandma )and is now asking for them all the time.

I am wondering if there's a way to make them myself and thus make them a bit healthier? Substitute organic yoghurt and organic fruit for the regular kind, reduce the sugar content, no artificial whatsoevers, etc.

Can you do things like that if you have a dehydrator? (Which I don't have yet, but would consider getting one). I know the yoghurt melts are freeze dried but isn't there maybe another way to produce something similar that tastes good and is a little bit better than the store bought stuff?
