Surprise!

Okay - so my water broke at work (I teach middle school!) in the hallway with a parent next to me about two minutes away from having a full class of kids on May 20th. I was due June 18th. I ended up being induced and had our beautiful boy on May 22nd. He came out weighing 5 pounds 11 oz and according to the midwives and everybody 4 weeks early.

Okay - here is the question...

Last night my husband and I were looking back through my temp. charts. According to the times we made love in August, doing the due date calculator we would have a baby...you guessed it May 22nd. According to the chart, I had about 4 days of a period...would that have been an implantation bleeding? Or was this little bugger really 4 weeks early? And if so, man how big was he going to get?

Has this ever happened to anybody else?

By the way...we are both doing fabulous!

Congrats! I teach third grade (still working now!) and having my water break at school is definitely something I think about!

How exciting!

Did your temps go back down after the light period, or stay higher than normal?

And at my 34 wk u/s, the estimated weight at 5 lb 11 oz. DS was 8 lb 4 oz, I expect this LO will be same or bigger. They do slow down in weight gain in the last few weeks.

My principal said that she had never had anybody's water break in school. I talked to the nurses at the hospital about this and they said that only 2% of women have their water break at their place of work. Crazy!

My temps did go back down which would suggest not pregnant right?

I bet you conceived in Sept, not Aug. 5 lbs 11oz would be really small for a full term baby...my son was 8 lbs 8 oz and no one said anything about that being big...just average...

Did you have an early ultrasound? Those are supposed to be really accurate.

Anyhow - congrats!!! Enjoy him!!!

Congrats! I think you conceived in Sept. too. 5lbs 11oz sounds perfect size for 36 weeks. I have bigger babies, and my 33 weeker was 5lbs 15oz and my 37 weeker was 8lbs 4oz. I am over 38 weeks with this one, so who knows how big s/he will be. Congrats on your beautiful little one!

Congratulations!! I was teaching third grade when pregnant with DS. My water broke in the bathroom at school. I had just walked the class to recess, left them with the other grade-level teachers, and went to the bathroom. The nurse that day was a sub...whose son was in my class, so it was nice. She knew what was up, got me pads, a blanket, etc. Great news about your new little one!! :-)

Wow how fun for you! Did you make a big sploosh?? How did the parent react to being 'baptized'?? LOL!! At least in the hallway it's easy to clean up and not in front of your class right? What a great story to share! Welcome to your tiny darling!!

Based on baby's size alone I too would think 4w early would make sense!

If my water breaks, I really hope it happens when I'm standing up. I'm scared of it breaking in bed because this happened with my first and then I would have a big mess to clean! Congrats momma! Sounds like it would be a small full termer but you never know.

I slept with a waterproof cover on my bed because I was paranoid about that with my first pregnancy. MY water ended up breaking when I got up to pee in the middle of the night. Even so, I'm taking the same precaution this time around too.
