How long does the "no" phase last?

I have a very happy, healthy 18 mo DS who has just entered the "no" phase. He started shaking his head at almost everything about six weeks ago and as of two weeks ago, he says the word no to absolutely everything. Of course, even the most definitive no is usually followed by happily taking whatever was offered to him. He's generally in a good mood and rarely cranky so most of the time this is cute and not too annoying. But I'm still eager for this phase to be over!

I know almost every toddler seems to go through a no phase - how long did it last for yours? And is there such thing as a "yes" phase? (not to be confused with the "i want dat" phase, which we are also presently enjoying)

We're currently in the "no" phase and DS is 21 months. He just started saying no about a month ago. But now he says it for anything I ask him. Sometimes it's the long drawn out no whine. Please tell us it will be over soon.

My DD is 2 1/2, and currently in a fairly agreeable phase. I think the "no" phase comes and goes until about age 24!
