Cheap cat toys

Sometimes the most ordinary things can bring a lot of fun for your feline friend. We've recently discovered that our cat (9 mos old) just LOVES to play with pony tail holders. (I'm sure rubber bands would be fun too, but I wouldn't let them play with them b/c of the risk of chewing, etc.) She also thinks the big twisty ties are fun too, but I wouldn't let her play with them unattended b/c eventually they wear down and the wire inside would be dangerous. But she has fun batting them around on the hardwood floor. Also, she gets a lot of mileage out of ping pong balls.

My cat loves ponytail holders too, though I don't put them where he can get them when we're gone usually. I've heard a lot of stories about cat's eating them then needing surgery. That said, when I'm around, I let him play with a lot of other things I wouldn't normally, like balls of string. If I'm watching him, I figure he can't get into trouble. I put them away later.

the cutest is pencils. My cat is obsessed with pencils. He loves to bat them around and pounce on them, and I swear 90% of our pencils are broken from him putting them on the bed or a chair, and then DP or I sitting on them. but it's so adorable how much he loves them.

He likes the twist ties too.

My cat's fave fave fave toy though is one of those feathers on a stick thing. The feathers are LONG gone, but he'll happily chase the little bobble that held the feathers to the string. I keep thinking we should get more feathers though.

Wadded up paper and aluminum foil are popular as well

My cat loves to play goal keeper. This is a short video...he wasn't up to his usual enthusiasm though. My hubby is throwing playing cards for him.

He also loves to chase straws.

We never buy cat toys for our boys. The ponytail holders are a hit, but one cat eats them so I am super careful not to leave them out.

They also enjoy the plastic pulls off of gallons of milk.
