Things my DS has cried/whined about today....

I dared to suggest cereal for breakfast

I asked him if he needed the bathroom

I wouldn't let him eat his cookie until we'd left the store

I took a bite of the sandwich he said he'd finished

Wouldn't give him a 2nd vitamin

I sat on 'his' red pillow

...and about 20000 other things.
I'm 36 wks pregnant and soooooooo not into the whining!

It's ok when I've got my playful parenting head on but, after lunch when I need a nap, I'm doing alot of deep breathing!

He won't nap these days unless in the car or stroller but he needs to. Today it's hot so I decided to transfer him from the car to house and he woke up....not happy. Neither am I as I envisaged an hour with a cup of tea and my feet up.
We had 5 mins of 'I don't want you' etc and the minute I turned a DVD on, he cuddled up to me and was content.
So I'm venting here....and feeling bad for using the tv to give myself a break!

Anyone else's nearly-3-yr-old cry ALOT??

Note to self: need to re-read Raising Your Spirited Child

No 3 year whining but I do have 20 month old that likes to throw temper tantrums now. I've learned to just ignore him when he gets like that and let him have a spell. He will eventually come around and then I sit down with him and talk to him about his actions and tell him that "that's not nice".

Oh sweet jeebus I'm right there with you, though DS just turned two. I...

... DARED to zip up my own purse
... was the awful, negligent parent who guided the kids' cart he was pushing at the grocery store so he didn't run over an elderly woman
... wouldn't let him pee standing up with the toilet lid closed
... was petting the dog

All these things are apparently beyond forgiveness. I must be an awful mother, huh?

Things my 2.5 year old cries/tantrums about near daily:

Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner
He has an excellent appetite. Not really a typically picky toddler. But every day at meal time he has to exercise his autonomy by complaining/screaming. After about 10-15 minutes of this he stops & eats what's in front of him.

Being in his booster seat.
Being in a "big boy" chair.
Being on the floor.
Sometimes he's not satisfied until he's in one of our laps. Eating from OUR plates. With OUR utensils. Same fork he was given and all. But it takes 20 minutes of whining/crying before we finally come to this poiint.

Wearing pants.
Not wearing pants.
Within the very same argument. ("Do you want to put pants on?" No. "OK, then." PANTS! PANTS! Ensue screaming & crying.)

And so on.

I have an 8 month old who, poor thing, is often sitting across from DS1 in shock by the sheer pitch of DS1's screaming.

My sympathies, mama.

13mo here...Last night DH wouldn't share his boxed mac-n-cheese (DS is intolerant to pasteurized dairy so the processed cheese is a no go) Screaming ensued.

It's horribly painful when he nurses all.day.long so sometimes I gently tell him "No, hurts Mama. I'm sorry." and THAT creates a huge fit.

My 19 m/o lost her mind today b/c I dared to offer her a choice between applesauce and cereal and again later b/c i asked if she wanted me to read to her. Apparently that made me the meanest mommy ever. Toddlers are so weird.

Exactly the same here.
Screaming, whining, 'I don't want to eat anything'
30 seconds later, he's eating his broccoli saying, 'yum yum'

So glad I'm not alone!

DS1 is 3 and cries/whines about *EVERYTHING* its horrendous. Every meal, most snacks, drinks, going *OR* leaving anywhere, etc. So yeah. Hugs. Folks on here assure me it gets better... we'll see.

I don't mean to laugh at all of your pain, but some of these are hilarious! you petted the dog! You allowed him not to wear pants! You zipped your purse! You offered to read to her!

You are all a bunch of MEAN MEAN mommies, is all I can say.
