I'm so very, very bored

So, today has been my first day back to work since Friday before last. It's a long story - suffice it to say that May 24th-June 1st is a bad time for me every year, plus I just moved last weekend.

My current job is with the government, usually extremely long and draining days, but since I put my notice in before I left for my break I'm basically stuck in my office pushing paper around, not able to take on any new cases, farming out all of my old ones for new attorneys to take them to trial. At this point, I'd welcome a visit to Riker's. Alas, it doesn't seem to be coming my way any time soon.

I think I may - literally - be bored out of my skull. I'm a lawyer, for cryin' out loud! I got in this because I like debate, I like to argue. Now I'm a glorified personnel representative.

This blows. Hard.

Okay, rant over. For now at least.

ETA: I'm free, I'm free! Great day in the mornin' (uh . . . evenin'), people - I'm free!

I'm currently on the subway back home, but first I will be stopping off to get ginger ice cream from Blue Marble to go with my gherkins from The Pickle Guys.

Why, yes, today I am a walking cliché.

LOL! Enjoy your pickles and ice cream and hang in there. How much longer before you're done? Maybe something interesting will come up in the meantime...

I got to enjoy my pickles and ice cream for about two hours until I started peeing fire. Went to the doctor the next morning and it was just as I suspected . . . raging kidney infection! So I'm using my sick days right now instead on the end of my time left.

As boring as work was I'd welcome it now. I'm basically being held prisoner in my bedroom by DF (the mean, mean man who threw out my pickles and dumped my ice cream done the sink).

Boo! Karma sucks.

Paintedfire, I'll tell you what, I'm picking 6 juries on Monday. I'll gladly let you in on that action! I think you are a prosecutor too, right? You just let me know, and maybe we can do a CCTV, jury selection type thing, b/c I also have a brief due that day....sigh. I guess, enjoy this time, because we all know it's not going to last, your desk will be exploding in a few weeks.

So wish we could do that!

Sadly, my desk with not even be my desk as of July 1st. I quit. I'm taking a new job with one of my favorite non-profit organizations so that when the baby comes I'll have time to actually, ya know, be there. And I don't even start that until September! I'm getting married then taking my honeymoon in August. This is going to be the first time in my life since I was 18 that I've been unemployed for any considerable length of time.

Right now, aleatha? Six juries sounds like heaven. But even through my drug-hazed mind I know enough to feel for you. Keep up the good work, mama.

kidney infections suck. I hope you feel better soon. It was one of the most painful things I ever went through (and I went through a natural child birth as well). I think only the migraines were worse.

Thanks. I'm being a good girl, no matter how much I dislike having to be one.

My family is freaked out at the idea of me having a homebirth but I keep trying to tell them that although I've never done this before, pain really isn't that big a deal for me.

Lupus, fibromyalgia, well over a hundred kidney infections in my life, chronic fatigue, asthma, allergies, migraines, cluster headaches, endometriosis, hypertension, arthritis, being on antibiotics some many times as a child that all of my teeth fell out of my head as a teenager, an eight-day coma, etc., etc..

I feel (perhaps wrongly) that I'm quite prepared for the pain that labor and childbirth will bring. Guess we'll see come January, huh?
