I was just outside talking with our neighbor....
for all of you that may not remember or were not around......
I use to care for my DH gma... she at the time I cared for her was 100-102. She would have been 104 on the 16th.
Anyway, times got hard and we could NO LONGER care for her, $ was GONE. There was a full time nurse, but at $800+ a week for care, we could not swing it any longer... so I began caring for her EVERY NEED. Bathing, Dressing, Potty, Food, Bed, etc.. EVERYTHING.
She was a very ungrateful woman I thought, but she was suffering due to the fact her mind was slipping. We engaged the help of Hospice... that was a horrible mistake. She was abused and hurt badly during a 5 day Nursing home care trip to give us a break... it was so hard on us and very straining on our relationship as partners!
I had had ENOUGH, I was burnt out and could not do it any longer. I took care of this woman through my ENTIRE pregnancy, even when I was on bedrest.!
My Partner finally got a hold of distant relatives for help... ppl I never even heard of before, but lived in the same state as us.. hummm. These are 2nd nieces and nephews of gma. Well, they came to "help us" so we thought.
Within a month of asking for help the cops & DCF were at or door, saying that we stole all of her money.. wtf, she HAD NO $. These 'family' memebers tried to get a restraining order against ME, saying that I was trying to kill this woman... you have no clue how hard that one went down! Of course ,EVERYTHING was false and unfounded, no charges or court orders!
They turned gma against DH and I... she REFUSED TO EVEN SPEAK TO HER ONLY GRANDSON. He was the absolute only relative that woman had. The only child of her only child. He cared for that woman for 5 years so that she did not go to a nursing home to live!
These people moved gma out of her home, took her away in March-April of last year. Dunno where, never heard from her again.
One of the nephews moved into the house... we never did get ANY OF OUR OWN PERSONAL belongings out of gmas house! So sad, family harlequins and such were over there. (from DH's dads side, not gmas side)
Now these ppl have a HUGE U-hall in the drive, the neighbor next to them was outside when I came home a bit ago, she came over to talk to me..
So mater of speaking mentioned how the niece had came by a month ago and was telling her how gma passed away a few months ago... I was DUMBFOUNDED, complete shock.
How the hell could anyone NOT F**King tell us?
Guess the story she was told is that gma had surgery and died shortly after due to complications.. wth!?!
Surgery FOR WHAT? The woman was 103 years old, who the hell does surgery on a woman that is that damn old.. I am just so sad.
I have to tell my husband about this, not even knowing for sure that it is the truth! He will be home in about 15 minutes and my heart is racing.. I know he is going to be CRUSHED.
Gma was his (besides his children of course) ONLY LIVING RELATIVE on either side of his mom/dad family!!!!
I am sorry this is so damn long, just needed to vent.. so much going on the past couple days. Have a sick 5yo w 102-103 temp as well as a 7mo puppy with a blockage in his belly and needing possible surgery, will find out tomorrow am.
