Pregnant with multiples? Check in here!

I know some of us have threads in our DDCs, but someone suggested it might be nice to have a thread out here in the general forum so we can hear from mamas at various stages of multiples pregnancy.

I'm 13 weeks weeks pregnant with twins. It's a complete shock. We have 4 children and just had 2 back to back miscarriages, and this was our last try for "one more" baby. And here we are. We heard both the babies' heartbeats today, which made me very happy.

Yay! I get to be the first joiner-inner! LOL Thanks, Annette!

I'm 12 weeks pg with twins. Totally NOT expected...we were kinda sorta not trying/not taking many precautions, and twins don't run in the family. Found out a month ago and I'm still trying to process it. We wanted one more for sure, hadn't made the decision if we'd have any more after that. So apparently, the universe decided to make that choice for us.

Next appointment is tomorrow; I can't wait to see them again!

Yay!!! Yeah, I keep joking that this was supposed to be my "icing on the cake" baby, and instead we're getting icing AND sprinkles, LOL!

I meant to post our pictures of the babies so far:

I am 27.5 weeks pregnant with twin girls. This is our first pregnancy. Just got put on couch duty and pulled from work. One twin's stomache is smaller than the other and they want more blood flow to get to her, so they say being off my feet will promote blood flow and help development. Hoping it works!!

Congrats to those of you early on! it is special and exciting knowing you have two little ones. Take care of yourselves.

I am 34 weeks pregnant with twin boys, that are not mine!

This is the second set of twins I have carried. My last surrogacy in 06 resulted in healthy twin girls at 39 weeks 3 days.

This time we put in 2 embryos, got triplets but one naturally disolved around the 6th week.

So yeah hi there!

Hi again annette! lol I'm 12 weeks with some di/di twins We had an early MC the cycle before and decided not to try this month. I wasn't fully charting so wasn't paying attention the one time we dtd! OOPS.

So we were hoping for one more and ended up with two! My first visit isn't until June 15th... although I have heard the heartbeats several times (I work in hospital dopplers all over hehe).

Wishing an uneventful 9 months to everyone!

I hope couch duty works! I will be starting self imposed modified rest at 24 weeks. Due to my history of grumpy uterus. I am hopeing to avoid meds/full bedrest.

How is everyone planning their births?

I'm 34 wks pg, due July 14th. We won't know gender until delivery. We already have 5, plus we also each have one child (count 2) from previous marriages. Yes, it will be 9 for us. Excited, but also by now really tired and feel enormous!

Hello to all the multiple mamas! I had my first trimester screen today, mostly so I could see the babies. But I have pictures!

Annette- what cuties!! I"m jealous of all the U/S you have had already. My next one will be at 16 weeks mainly for cervical length due to history of preterm contractions. (not preterm birth)... but my contractions get pretty nutso around 26 weeks.

For those mama's farther along. Can you share how big your measuring and how many weeks you are, and how your feeling to singleton pregnancies if you have anything to compare it to. I cannot find anywhere measurements for twin bellies. And I'm just curious as I know it will be different. But pretty much when do you start to measure 40 weeks? Because lol I am curious how far beyond that I may get

Does the crazy random heart racing stop at some point during pregancy? My HCP assures me it's normal, but it's annoying and frankly, a little freaky to just be sitting here and suddenly have this crazy random rapid pulse.

Amanda, I'm ambivelant about the ultrasounds. Mostly I feel guilty for not feeling guilty. But after losing two babies back to back, it does my anxiety a world of good to see them growing. Now that we're past where we lost the other two, I feel a little more relaxed.

Thanks for starting the thread Annette!

I'm 14.5 weeks with mono/di twins. We always used to say we thought 4 was a good number and it looks like we're going to get our wish sooner than we thought.

Looking forward to hearing about everyone's experiences!

I measured 40cm at 32 wks. From what I have read at the end of 2nd tri you can expect to measure full-term. I obviously went a little longer before that.
As you probably know, preterm birth is the biggest issue w/multiples, make sure your dr is aware of your history and really be aware of stuff like backaches or even just feeling off. 26 wks is not the best time for babies to be born, as you also know. Having twins really is different. be kind to yourself and rest a lot and eat well!

I remember in my 1st tri esp and even a little into my 2nd, I had quite a bit of heart palpitations. I have had that in other pgs and had the same response from drs. It is frightening, but it did go away.

Oh yes my doc is aware. We have a plan in place for my working, medications, bedrest etc. I haven't ever delivered prior to 39 weeks, so my risk is lower, just grumpy uterus. I did have a big scare with DS only because I went in at 29 weeks because I felt off. Wasn't contracting, no symptoms... turns out I was dialated, FFN was positive. Two days later the contractions started up.

So this time I will be slowly dropping back work hours, then eventually stopping. Cervical length ultrasounds monthly, steroid shots at 24 weeks, and meds whenever I feel I need them. Great OB covering my care. We will be avoiding cervical checks and FFN unless something shows concern, because I think less irritation to cervix the better.

sounds like a great plan! I have an irritable uterus, too, tho no history of anything. Always to to term or beyond. I am actually hoping I don't go much past 38 wks. I have felt like I was at term for about a month and a half now. It's getting really hard to drag my big pg self around.

Guess I am joining the crew!

Not Only Did I See A Heartbeat Today... I Saw Two!

we are having twins!!!
they are clearly Di and the heartbeats were strong and everything looked totally great. all the cramping I'm feeling is probably due to 2 really large corpus luteums i have on my left ovary, all good, im sure they are working hard to pump out lots of progesterone for my two little gummy bears!

hubby is still working on taking it all in, after the many years it took to get here and at our age, this is great news. it will be a challenge but o so great!

Hey, I bought a double stroller today! We were driving past the consignment store and they had a nice duoglider for about $75. I was hoping to get one for around $50, but it was in excellent condition and had a really cute pattern. I like that it could hold 2 carseats if needed, or I can put one baby in, sling another, and still have a place for my 3-year-old to ride if he wants. I felt oddly superstitious buying it.

I measured 40cms at 25 weeks, and 56cms when I delivered at 34 weeks. My twin pregnancy felt no different til about 24 weeks when I was huge.
