King sized mattress question

Anyone know if there is a good rule of thumb to figure out if a king sized mattress or box spring will make it into a bedroom? There is a 90 degree turn in the hallway. I suspect that the mattress will fit, but we may need a split boxspring. Is there any way to tell besides buying it and crossing our fingers?

I believe they only sell split boxsprings for kings, I've never seen one all in one piece.
