They're pretty poker face here too. I think because if they tell you something, it counts as a diagnosis (my midwife explained it to me a lot more clearly than I'm relaying the information here). They won't even tell you the sex of the baby unless it's noted on the referral form by your midwife or doctor. They will show you the heartbeat, face etc. Will scare the hell out of you if the baby looks large. But that's about it in my experience.
